Make VampireRat a Guide: follow clipper
About me
Interested in all things technical. Always looking for a good deal on line or in town. Free and cheap software is good. Current favorite website: Giveawayoftheday.com and its sister gamegiveawayoftheday.com . Hansen's Pomegranate Green Tea Soda is good. So is John Pointer's music.
Why I use Clipmarks
They are so cute. I love the way they scurry around on the ground gathering nuts. It's too bad they are wild - I'd love to have one as a pet..

Clipmarks? I thought it said chipmonks.

Copy color palettes from old masters to your own photos
VampireRat
by VampireRat  10-17-2007
Someone asked in a forum: "within the last 6 months or so, I came across a program (freeware) which claimed to let you make any of your images have the "look" of another image. In particular, if you had an image of say a Rembrandt painting, you could copy that look to one of your own images. No doubt photoshop experts can do that sort of thing, but I haven't got photoshop." The forum replies included a link to a great Photoshop tutorial and a image editing plug-in called Matrix ( panix.com ) that works with Irfanview and Paint Shop Pro.

Do you group your M&M's into web-safe color palettes? Then, this is the site for you. Great resource for anyone working with color. The blog has an article on color association in game design, there are loads of color palettes for any use, and a forum for discussion. The COLORtrends section is for you if you are into interior or clothing design, or just want to know that the "in" colors are next season.

Explaining My Computer - Video
VampireRat
by VampireRat  10-14-2007
Here’s a great skit on YouTube, in the tradition of Abbot & Costello’s “Who’s on First.” Anybody else have trouble explaining the whole My Computer/My Documents thing to a newbie? Oh, and if you don't know the reference to "Who's on First?," you should really look it up.

Free Games & Demos Want Your Reviews

This is Donation Coder's review of a new website, "Play This Thing." You can just go straight to the Play website here: http://playthisthing.com/ I find it interesting that they will offer board games once a week, too. The site is new and there's not much there yet, but it bears watching. This is a participatory site. They want you to comment in the Forum and/or even set up your own free blog.

15 Firefox Add-ons Suggested
VampireRat
by VampireRat  8-22-2007
Johnathan's is a blog about software. It's worth a skim through the Archives. From this article, I found several Firefox Add-ons that I will be trying, including: " * Tab Mix Plus – Adds a host of helpful options for displaying and managing tabbed pages. * ScrapBook – When you don’t have time to read everything, ScrapBook saves the entire Web page and its linked page (you choose the depth) for your future perusal. * Google Notebook – one of several competing add-ons that enable you to clip, collect, organize, and annotate Web pages or parts of them; essential for researchers." A Clipmarks competitor?
