POPSKei's "Sayonara" music video has wonderful editing I really, REALLY like this track. I'm not sure what to dub it stylistically, but it's very high-tempo, techy, melodic trance with great vox and bleepy SFX. Nothing too "out there", but a solid performer. The music video has ULTRA visual accompaniment — the camera pans, angles, and how it's all put together work incredibly well. One of the best parts is the clever editing of looped Second Life animations to give them a more dynamic, varied feel. Bravo! One of my fave Second Life vids so far. ^_^

POPSEclectic free music @ Jamendo I've listened to a swath of this and it's really quite lovely! In particular, I like Silence's "L'autre endroit" album. Moody and meaningful. Would work well on a suspense thriller miniseries.

POPSMinimal techno music clips I like coming across neat collections of vids on YouTube. This guy has neat little promos of various tracks. I don't know if he put them together himself, but they're fun snippets, esp. if you're not familiar with mnml tech and would like to be acquainted with the sound.

POPSDragon Quest/Warrior music video I stumbled across this on YouTube. I can't believe it, someone(s) actually went through all the work to make a video for these games. I grew up playing Dragon Warrior after subscribing to Nintendo Power (which came with it and a map pack as a freebie incentive), and was introduced to the world of electronic RPGs. I've never looked back since. The editing on this is so well-done and the varied effects and screamed vocals are milk-splurting hilarity!

POPSObscure Transformers Books - including audio recordings Gosh, after so many years of searching, I've found it! I had the particular tape "Attack of the Decepticons" as a kid, and while it's SHEERLY cheesy and totally dated — and the voices are sooo off as well — I nevertheless am thrilled to find what was such an influential part of my youth. I must've listened to the tape over... and over.

POPSVideo game music tribute to Kraftwerk Lo-tek meets... even lower-tek! The 80s meet the 70s in this delightful spanning of electronic music eras. A number of familiar Kraftwerk tunes are represented here, from my fave "Computer World", to a boppin', bouncy cover of "Radioactivity". Check out the embedded Flash player with samples.

POPSTrackitdown - Dance Music MP3 Distribution Centre One of the best online record stores I've come across! I wasn't able to clip much because the site's very Flash heavy, but that's part of its unique strengths: MP3 samples can be streamed using an inline player, and queued in a playlist. You can download them too if you'd rather listen later. The layout is clean, the selection ample. Note: I haven't bought anything here yet.

POPSThe Happy Electropop Music Machine! An apt name for a fun album — these are some of the catchiest melodies I've ever heard, with oodles of good vibes founded on unwarily complex arrangements. The cover art cracks me up so much — Jean-Jacques Perrey teamed up with Gershon Kingsley (composer of the famed "Popcorn") for a number of pioneering electronic hits, and he's still making music in his advanced years, now joined by Dana Countryman.

POPSDid you know Popcorn has been remade over 500 times? It's one of the most famous melodies you may not know the name of — "Popcorn" refers to the staccato, bouncy instrument which is prominent in this very poppy track. This page chronicles some of the many incarnations of the "Popcorn Song" — among them are many dance mixes, but some other curiosities, like a faux Native American version and a surf rock jam. There's even a version with German vocals! When fun is on the run, the pop don't stop!

POPSUltra-giddy Japanese pop goodness from Perfume If you're looking for music to cheer you up, you gotta check Perfume out — it doesn't get happier than their particular brand of saccharine (I mean this in the best of ways), bouncy pop! Danceable tunes with fun music videos, they'll have you boppin'. :)

POPSAdorable puppet pals sing "Hold Me Now" Glove and Boots did the music video for the Polyphonic Spree's "Hold Me Now", which is SUCH a sweet, warm song. The video features these puppets dancing about and singing in-sync. I wish children's shows has more stuff like these! Click through to watch the video... wish I could embed media players in Clipmarks!

POPSIshkur's Guide to Electronic Music v2! Don't know the difference between ambient and trip-hop? Breakcore and breakbeat? Have a look — and a listen! — to this guide. It hasn't been updated in 3 years, but to this day, a more comprehensive guide to the many heads of the electronic music hydra doesn't exist. Loads of fun!

POPSJuno Records: The Dance Music Resource Pages Nope, they're not just a record store. They've got MP3 clips for just about every one of their pumpin', thumpin', and even the more tranquil (ambient) tunes. Across the spectrum of styles as you can see — or rather, hear — I use them as a frequent point-of-reference. When are we getting audio clips @ Clipmarks? ;) Hehe.

Download 'em in no-hassle MP3 and enjoy the lush goodness! Another to check out is @ http://www.suckerfreemusic.com/

POPSDrum 'n' bass anthem for airplanes Great moments in traveling music... I'm passionate when two things I love but "traditionally" stay so far apart come together. The screengrab's a winking stewardess from the Sub Focus music video, "Airplane". The whole vid has a very rough, 70s film, and is shot in warm orangey hues, with a bit of computer-generated imagery (it's pretty obvious when). Catchy tune with a brill melody and phat beats! After listening to it, you'll have the urge to repeat: "The airplane flies across the sky Where it goes is in your mind!"

POPSWhat if the Beatles were avatars? Menno Ophelia, a Resident of Second Life, made this inspired tribute to one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time. His Flickr photostream also has tributes to Nirvana and Kraftwerk. This particular shot was taken in the famous region of Midnight City. Makes me think about how John Lennon might have used a computer to make music.
