Brilliant art project by Aram Bartholl. Now, when will it be easier to export clothes in SL to physical fabrics?

This has gotta be one of my fave blog posts in a long time — Patrick's got the goods, and uh, the bads too. :D (Yeah, sometimes Second Life is like bringing MAD Magazine alive in the best of ways.)

I'd like to meet Jaron Lanier someday. He's one of my childhood heroes, and I excitedly learned awhile ago that he had been advising Linden Lab — mentions of Second Life in this article.

    Bizarre "texture" splog
    Torley
    by Torley  3-1-2007
I was doing some websearches for Second Life texture tools, and came across this odd site. Looks like random text and links jammed together, and the odd, very blocky line graphic. Not sure what they're trying to sell — at least I can give 'em credit for being minimalist. :)

This is such a fun, compact program — too bad it's only for Macs, but it's really useful and makes terrain creation a lot quicker. A lot of people don't know about this yet, and I hope they will.

If you're into Second Life, this is a wonderful listing, neatly indented and sectioned into categories, of educational resources pertaining to Second Life and the skills within. Some things I made are included too... always glad to see them being used well. Put together by a Resident named PRX Aero|Stan Trevena.

I like job titles that make you do a double-take. I recently spotted this in the Beeb online. These types of articles are becoming more common; I can't imagine it's too long before the novelty wears off and they become ubiquitously meshed yet valuable, like what Steve Jobs thinks of Levi jeans. ;) From an insider perspective (I work for Linden Lab), I should note how dapper Roo aka Algernon looks, and how unique his head is shaped: you'll often not find prominent eyebrows like that in Second Life, especially paired with big blue eyes and a teardrop-shaped head not unlike that of a classic Gray alien. Lots of room for avatar customization, that's for sure.

Menno Ophelia, a Resident of Second Life, made this inspired tribute to one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time. His Flickr photostream also has tributes to Nirvana and Kraftwerk. This particular shot was taken in the famous region of Midnight City. Makes me think about how John Lennon might have used a computer to make music.
