POPSTransformers: The Movie - conceptual art I just learned Floro Dery had a significant role in influencing the look and feel of the Transformers universe. All of these are his designs, and if you're a TransFan, surely you recognize some of them too. I especially like how he used a technique of sketching out various robot parts that could be used in various combinations.

POPSStephen King covers and more as done in old-skool pixel art For me, this is an incredible find: it combines my passion for computer graphics with one of my fave authors, Stephen King. These don't appear to have been for any pro production, but the devotion of a fan — Sean Ryan I think — who worked on a Commodore Amiga in Deluxe Paint II to create these works. Inspiring!

POPSFashmir's art journal & tutorials Fashmir's really prolific; on his page, he's got many pictures of scenes he's made in ArtRage (a lovely US$20 program with a free edition). He's also got beautifully-presented ArtRage tutorials. A treat for your eyes!

POPSGorgeous "Texturing For Dummies" PDF Guide Really lush guide by leigh of CGTalk — this one's certainly in a league of its own. It'll inspire you as you flip through the pages and learn to apply the techniques to your own art. I'm already chuffed! And yes, like it says... look at the world a little differently. :)

POPSCustom digital wallpaper from Design Your Wall Being enamored by textures, it makes sense I look at the bigger picture here: textures large enough to cover whole swathes of a house's walls! I heard about this site from milki Unknown aka Ariel Martian, and apparently, you can submit your own art, photos, etc. to be printed out as wallpaper. Looks somewhat costly but, knowing how these things go, a sign of things to come.

POPSThe Iconfactory: pixel-art pioneers! If you've ever seen the Windows XP or Xbox 360 icons, then you've seen the work of The Iconfactory. Interestingly, they began as Mac-centric, then broadened their horizons to encapsulate cross-platform capacity. The icons shown here date from '98-99, so mosey on over for the newest. Truely Jedi Masters of this craft!

POPSThe process of creating a computer art masterpiece Not literally, but figuratively: so often there are great works of art which astound, but most people don't know the laborious process that goes into making them, one step after another. This is one of many great threads at CGSociety, showing how it's done. I have even more appreciation for the artist, Alexander Preuss, after seeing his masterstrokes are carried out.

POPSThe neo-psychadelic art of Nik Ainley This is the art of Nik Ainley. He has a lovely style with extruded bubble letters and a lot of color to put — it's like bringing psychedelica into the present age! Warning: a few of the images may shock. But all of them, I believe, will surely astound.
