    POPS    Is Wordpress Doomed? Google buys self-hosted blogging software company.

     Yet again, Google buys another software suite in order to compete in a market that doesn't directly involve search engines or search related tools. I haven't quite made up my mind on whether this is good news or bad news. On one hand, more competition in the self-hosted blog software market is always a good thing and can only help make the tools we use better through that competition. On the other hand, while I realize that there is money to be made in this deal, doesn't anyone else think that Google is getting close to over-diversification with all their non search engine related purchases over the past several years?

     This wordpress plugin encourages people to comment on your wordpress blog. This plugin also encourages repeat visitors to your blog. When your visitors comment more often, they receive more backlinks, your visitors also gain another outlet for their RSS feed.
