POPSGeorge Bush Doesn't Know Why People Don't Like Him George Bush has been asking around the white house about why people seem to dislike America, or is it just him they dislike. My guess is that the world will once again warm up to America and appreciate us for the great country we are, once the Bush boy is gonzo. I just wish he were heading to the Hague where he could be tired, along with Cheney and Rumsfeld for war crimes.

POPSBush Moves Toward Showdown With Congress Rejected subpoenas? How can he? Oh, his sweeping executive privilege of course. How convenient... Rep. John Conyers, also a Democrat, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said Bush's assertion of executive privilege was "unprecedented in its breadth and scope" and displayed "an appalling disregard for the right of the people to know what is going on in their government."

POPSBush should be open to climate deal: Pelosi "We hope that we can all assume our responsibilities ... and that our administration will be open to listening to why it is important to go forward, perhaps in a different way than we proceeded in the past," Pelosi said

POPSThe American Public is Sick of Bush's False Bravado The public wants Bush to be accountable and to hold the Iraqi government accountable. They are tired of having the president permit more of our brave service people killed or maimed, and our treasury being depleted indefinitely while the Iraqi government does nothing to reach any benchmarks, and actually plan to go on vacation for two months as our soldiers continue to bleed and die in the stinking heat of Baghdad and the rest of Iraq, I really hope the public stands firm and strong, and insists that the congress force a meaningful set of benchmarks with real consequences for the Iraqi government failing to meet them. They should also tell them that if the Iraqi government takes the summer off, so are our troops. They need the rest far more than the politicians do.

POPSPentagon Puts Handcuffs on Congressional Testimony Once again the Bush Administration attempts to make an end-run around checks and balances and keep congress in the the dark. I, as a citizen, cannot understand how they believe they can get away with this. Congress, as the voice of the people can also legitimately be considered the ears of the people. WE control and empower the Pentagon. THEY DO NOT CONTROL US. Those they seek to muzzle are, effectively, US, as every soldier is a citizen first. When Congress yanks the chain, the Pentagon choke-collar gets tighter. It is that simple.

POPSThe Iraq Money Trail Cheney may be the most visible profiteer to those who find it difficult to follow the war on terror money trail, but many other members of the administration with insider knowledge set themselves up to profit early on as well. I never have been able to understand how war profiteers can enjoy their earnings. I think any profits from war should be funneled back into f.ex. providing equipment for the troops or post-deployment health care for the people (and families) who actually FOUGHT the war or for the civilians caught up in it all and to the people who actually paid the price! It's blood money, if you ask me.

POPSBush Can't Come Out and Play Bush says he's too busy. I think the real reason is that they couldn't fill the stadium with active military personal which are forbidden from uncriticizing their boss. Gotta protect Bushy...:-)

POPSNo More Rubber Stamp Legislature Finally an example of some accountability in government. It’s time that this power hungry administration is put in its place. The next few months should prove to be very interesting.

POPSReplace a U.S. Attorney Killed by Terrorism?....... I didn't have room to post this next paragraph...but here it is in all it's gory! Disgusting! ======================================================== In firing the prosecutors and replacing them without Senate approval, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales took advantage of a little-noticed provision that the administration and its Republican enablers in Congress had slipped into the 2006 expansion of the Patriot Act. The ostensible purpose was to allow the swift interim replacement of a United States attorney who was, for instance, killed by terrorism. But these firings had nothing to do with national security — or officials’ claims that the attorneys were fired for poor performance. This looks like a political purge, pure and simple, and President Bush and his White House are in the thick of it.
