POPSFacebook asked to pull Scrabulous game Hrm, this just seems like a stupid way to go about it. Yes, it is a gross infringement of thier rights, however, it is one of the most popular games/apps on Facebook. I know lots of people who play it. My girlfriend decided to add scrabble to her xmas wishlist after playing it on facebook and being reminded of haw good a game it is. She got the deluxe version of the game under the tree :) As I see it, the idiots are missing out. They could make a deal witht he writers gaining the majority (if not all/nearly all) of any profits made from teh game, and use it to link to thier product, re brand it as official and make MONEY through internet sales of the real thing. Morons. Everybody is shoot first, shoot again.. shoot a little more & when everyone is dead, ask a question or two.. Reminds me of the Alberta Preimier - Domain name issue...

POPSTeenagers charged in "Mortal Kombat" tragedy Read the rest of the article, the writer makes some very good points. These kids were old enough to know better, any sane person can't place the blame on video games. the could have gotten the idea form any visual media. Movies, TV, etc. There was alchahol involved. If thye had have been watching a Van-Damm mvowie before hand the same outcome would ahve likely been reached. Stupid people make me mad. They just gave the anti-video game camp a hand of ACES in the media... Here's an idea.. take resposibility for your own fucking actions.. What about the parents here.. obviously these "kids" should not have been left in cahrge of a 7 year old...

POPS'Convert or die' game divides Christians Prsonally I think this is both amusing and disgusting.. I guarantee that there people out there who would buy this game for their kids and wouldn't buy bully... At least in bully you don't teach intolerance based on race & religion.. nor do you mow people down with a shot gun... Sick if you ask me...

POPSArmy Game "Proves" U.S. Can't Lose I put lies on the tag, as from the article and other articles available on the game, it is obvious the US Military intentionally had the game made to make it look like the insurgents and enemy could not defeat them. When in fact, these insurgents are causing great damage to US troops and their equipment (and likewise to Canadian, Dutch, etc...) One thing I've read often (and heard from the horse's mouth) is that the enemy is very capable and learns very quickly to take advantage of any weakness in the equipment or its operators.

POPSWarm Tea: The Bully boy-on-boy kiss goes mainstream Heheh.. this should be a fun one to watch. Personally I think it is great they put it in there.. it forces certain individuals to show their true colors.. and also forces other companies who have released games with similar content to come to Rockstar's defense...

POPSThe Game of Art Really looking forward to trying this out.. At first i thought it just looked stupid, but as I've read more reviews and talked to friends, it looks like it may actually be a fresh idea.. and fun too! (Note: no killing cops, or beating women.. should be safe from Jack... and safe for your kids too!)

POPSBig Media Gets a Second Life Interesting how big corperations like Sun Microsystems, Adidas, Toyota, etc are building, maintaining and staffing SL shops... wonder how far this will go.. Anyome remember back in the day when some companies tried to create a 3d market place in the web browser? it was back in '99 or 2000.. it was horrible & flunked bad... this sounds like it may actually work, especially since revenues can and are maintined in SL.. there are stories of people quitting thier full time jobs because they make better money developing stuff in SL & selling it for real money (which is OK in teh SL SOE & TOU..)

POPS"Bully" must be handed over to a judge within 24 hours... Jack Thompson strikes again. Now, not that I necessarily disagree that a judge would need to view a game in it's entirety to be able to rule if it is a nuisance, but why video games? I mean, do courts order that 50 Cent's latest album must be reviewed by the court to make sure it is not a nuisance? Another thing that bothers me is that games ARE reviewed, just as movies, music, actually, more in depth than music is.. Music just gets an label, which does not stop it from being sold to kids in most cases. FYI: "Bully" is rated 'M', meaning it's not supposed to be played by kids...

POPSRadical games... It is enough to make one question the right to free speech, freedom of expression, etc. Now, I love the ability in our civilization to be able to express one's self freely, but I have to stop and question what is going too far? A game, who's central plot is the killing of a real world person seems to me to be disgusting. Now I feel the same way if it is Bush or Saddam Hussein. I have no issue with them making games where the US Army, or the Israeli army are the enemy, that is no different then our games that paint them as the enemy (even if we feel it is justified in our case).. but a game where the point is to assassinate a world leader? too far. (And I know, I spoke out for "A Death of a President", but I feel that is different, that's a movie, who's central plot is the fallout of an assassination, rather than the glorified killing of the president at the user's hands...)

POPSNYT: The Long Zoom (or: how Will Wright could change the world) The article is more or less about Will Wright's new game "Spore". For those of you not "in the know" this game diverges from the rest... there e is very little violence, and the small amount in it is cartoonish, and not glorified. The games' concept starts at the cellular level, allows you to build a create from a single celled organism, then a tribe, society, civilization, planet, galaxy, universe, all the while learning about diversity, and cause-effect actions. Making your creature a predator (literally, as in the Arnie sense), while allowing your creature to better survive in the wild or as a tribe can have harsh consequences when you meet other civilizations. Likewise, making them an herbivore can make it hard dot survive predators at all... Read the article.. It's quite interesting.. it just irks me that the damned game won't be out till mid-late next year at the soonest!!

POPS'Grand Theft Auto' makers blamed for triple killing Give me a #%&ing break! Stop blaming video games because you neglect your kids!!!!! Video games don't breed homicidal maniacs, bad parent, bad schooling, bad society does! (With a healthy (or unhealthy) smattering of mental disorder...) These pricks are likely just wanting to blame someone for their own miserable failures, and are seeing big price tags at rockstar & co. It's pathetic.

POPSSchool Moves to Block Bully Game by Rockstar (of GTA fame)
Ok, so I am usually all for the game makers and thier right to sell games. But in this case, I am on the fence, and even leaning towards supporting the schoolboard. This game is obviously targeted at teens. And the rating it will get will be M (for Mature, meaning you must be at least 17 to buy it). That being said, is Rockstar responsible if violence happens as a result of kids playing this game? Or are parents responsible here too? One can argue that GTA was always meant as an "Adult" game, that Rockstar never intended for it to fall into the hands of children. But this game, "Bully" takes place in a private school, and seems to be aimed at senior high school grade kids. (Most kids are about to enter university at 17, the legal age to buy an M rated game). Personally, I think this game is in just bad taste, and Rockstar is just asking for trouble. Why make this game? Again, I'm usually for the game industry and hate the idea of games being censored. Not here though

POPSBlizzard CEO Responds to GLBT Issue
Article about how Blizzard's CEO has finally made it clear-ish where they stand on sexuality in World of Warcraft. This is revolving around the stories in the past couple of months about a GLBTer being told she could not advertise a GLBT guild in game. This is an issue that really bothered me, I think that I you can have Christian groups, Republican groups, etc, you should be able to have a GLBT group. The whole idea of guilds in online games is to play with people you get along with. The remarks some people make of how sexuality has no place in games are in my opinion, ignorant, as sexuality (sexual orientation in this case) play a major role in our daily lives, online and off. It defines how we talk and relate to one another. Besides, I can completely agree with the reasoning for GLBT guild.. i can't even begin to count how many time I've heard "He's a fag" or "that's soo gay". Granted, "That's so gay" is rarely meant in a negative way (really..), but "Fag" is us
