POPSWhite America has never liked social insurance for people of color More: Meanwhile, there has been a massive expansion in government-sponsored welfare going disproportionately to the white and affluent. What the political scientist Christopher Howard calls the hidden welfare state includes the tax-favored employer-provided health insurance that most working-age Americans depend on, as well as the home mortgage interest deduction and the childcare and child tax credits. Affluent and educated workers are more likely to work for employers who provide private health benefits than are low-skilled workers and employees of small businesses. Personal tax benefits like the home mortgage interest deduction are available only to the top half of households who pay federal income taxes, and are unavailable to lower-income workers who pay payroll taxes but no income taxes. In many cases, the benefits of this tax-credit welfare state increase with income.

POPSSen. Chuck Grassley: "I lied about the supposed 'Death Panels'" Mixed signals, Senator? What about the outright lies & untruths you & Sarah et al have been peddling? Healthcare reform legislation as being proposed does not include 'death panels' to determine who gets care paid for and who doesn't. The corporate health insurance industry, they're the ones currently operating death panels right now . They're the one's the "town hollers" are fighting in favor of. STOP LYING, REPUBLICANS! PUBLIC OPTION NOW!

POPSHow Republicans are LYING about "end-of-life" counseling
More In her chat with Thompson, McCaughey said the language can be found on page 425 of the health care bill, so we started there. Indeed, Sec. 1233 of the bill, labeled "Advance Care Planning Consultation" details how the bill would, for the first time, require Medicare to cover the cost of end-of-life counseling sessions. According to the bill, "such consultation shall include the following: An explanation by the practitioner of advance care planning, including key questions and considerations, important steps, and suggested people to talk to; an explanation by the practitioner of advance directives, including living wills and durable powers of attorney, and their uses; an explanation by the practitioner of the role and responsibilities of a health care proxy." The Republicans want to stop healthcare reform, because if it passes they know Americans will abandon them as being without ideas. This is why all the lies and attempts to shut down the discussion. Desperation

POPSThe Corporate "Death Panels" are already here, Sarah Corporate bean-counters are already deciding if it's profitable to treat people, or just cut off their insurance & let them die. What's so great about for-profit insurance if this is already the result? More: That kind of utilitarian rationing, of course, is exactly what Palin and other opponents of the healthcare reform proposals pending before Congress say they want to protect the country from... the idea that the reform plans would encourage government-sponsored euthanasia is one of a handful of deliberate falsehoods being peddled by opponents of the legislation. But the idea that only if reform passes would the government start setting up rationing and interfering with care goes beyond just the bogus euthanasia claim. Click through to the article for examples of how corporate greed, right this very minute, is leading to sick people BEING DENIED CARE HERE IN AMERICA. PUBLIC-OPTION NOW!

POPSSarah Palin: Nothing is ever her fault. Just ask her. Some more selections (though the list goes on and on: -Her criticisms when her witch hunting, governor-anointing pastor, Pastor Muthee , was exposed, were the fault of people who hate Jesus. -Her VP political loss was John McCain's fault. -Her image problems are Tina Fey 's fault. -Her policy on aerial wolf hunting was Ashley Judd's and other Outsiders' fault.

POPSJust how much does Palin know about energy anyway? click through for the Olberman video. Just because she knows jack shit about energy (like the Governorship, Palin also quit her state energy post before finishing her term) doesn't mean she can't rake in big $$$ as a shill for Corporate Oil.

POPSPalin's abrupt resignation sparks constitutional crisis in Alaska It's somewhat arcane and the article goes into much greater depth, but in Alaska it's not as simple as "The next person in line steps up". Well, it is, if that person has been approved by the legislature. Which it seems, they haven't. And they say it's next to impossible to reassemble the part-time legislature to actually approve the succession, which their constitution requires. People who are arguing that Sarah Palin is a political featherweight (and possible clinical narcissist) just got a huge boost. If she understood how her own state was governed (or gave a shit about anyone but herself), she would have done SOMETHING else. Also, the scandal issue may be losing steam in favor of "She would make more money doing stuff that she couldn't do while Governor". Like I said, if she showed any evidence of giving a shit about anyone but herself...

POPSKey reason Palin gave for quitting may be false The money would have gone to the lawyers no matter what they were doing. The complaints are “just distracting them from other duties,” Murrow said. In other words, while these lawyers might have been free to do other legal work for the state, the ethics complaints have apparently not had the real world impact Palin has claimed, and didn’t drain money away from cops, teachers, roads and other things.

POPSIt Came from Wasilla More than once in my travels in Alaska, people brought up, without prompting, the question of Palin’s extravagant self-regard. Several told me, independently of one another, that they had consulted the definition of “narcissistic personality disorder” in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders —“a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy”—and thought it fit her perfectly.

POPS GOP Draws Internal Battle Lines Around Sarah Palin CONT'D: "If I read this right, the GOP is set splinter into a trio of factions: the Palin-philes, the Romney remainders, and those excommunicated from the movement for daring to make a lick of sense at one point. Fitting isn't it, that a McCain loss might precipitate his party coming to resemble the factionalism of the Iraqi misadventure they all cooked up in the first place."

POPSPalin - Republican Party Infiltrator? Damning Video. CONTD: "So…basically what he’s saying here, is that Palin’s philosophical loyalties lie with the Alaska Independence Party, but in order to get elected, she had to distance herself from the AIP and infiltrate the Republican Party, because they’re the only ones who can ever actually get voted into office. But don’t worry boys and girls, her heart is still with us, and her sympathies are with the agenda of the Alaskan Independence Party, namely, independence."

POPSDid Sarah Palin have an affair? When The National Enquirer reported on John Edwards' affair: -They were right -Conservatives crowed about how the NI had a gang of lawyers who vetted everything they publish. Now TNI is reporting that they have sworn affidavits saying Sarah Palin had an affair with her "First Dude's" business partner.

POPS"Evita" Palin, Muse of the coming police state
CONTINUED... "Am I trying to scare you? I am. I am trying to scare you to death and ask you to scare your Republican and independent friends most of all. How do you know when it is war on citizens? When there are mass arrests, journalists are jailed, the opposition is infiltrated, rights are stripped and leaders start to ignore the rule of law. Almost everyone I work with on projects related to this campaign for liberty has been experiencing computer harassment: emails are stripped, messages disappear. That's not all: people's bank accounts are being tampered with: wire transfers to banks vanish in midair. I personally keep opening bank accounts that are quickly corrupted by fraud. Money vanishes. Coworkers of mine have to keep opening new email accounts as old ones become infected. And most disturbingly to me personally is the mail tampering I have both heard of and experienced firsthand. My tax returns vanished from my mailbox. All my larger envelopes arrive ripped straight ope
