POPSIsrael: Rise of the Right Today, after years spent getting to know Kahane's followers, I am sure that they will remain loyal to their rabbi's ideology and will fight against a two-state solution, as they have in the past with other Israeli governments. But this time they will be fighting from within the seat of power.

POPSIsraeli settlers attack Palestinians in West Bank Every story I read about the criminals that Israel has allowed to settle on the West Bank, I see pictures from crappy films about prehistoric man. They have to be very uneducated to think that when the Israel Govt tells them to do something they don't like, they should bash up the Palestinians.

POPSIsrael gives its American sugar-daddy the finger The Israeli settlements are built on illegally occupied Palestinian land. Plain & simple. If it's illegal to start with, why should a settlement be allowed to grow naturally? The Occupied Territories are not part of Israel, they are conquered land. Palestinian land. And international law forbids military occupiers to colonize foreign territory. This the the basic fact that The Israel Lobby 's propaganda campaigns aims to obscure. This is what all those UN resolutions condemning Israel and their brutal Apartheid (the ones the US AUTOMATICALLY blocks) are about. The settlements, and the illegal colonists who live in them, have to go. And don't get started on the "This is the land God promised to us" bullshit. Go ask God for billions of dollars a year, not the American Taxpayer.

POPSIs TV news one-sidedly in support of Israel? The American media gives a wholly one-sided presentation of the illegal occupation of Palestine, no history, no context, to the point where many Americans think the Palestinians are the one illegally occupying land in the "Occupied Territories". Israel is wholly dependent on American money, weapons, and political cover. And keeping the American populace in the dark about what's really going on in our name, with our tax dollars allows Israel to continue it's policy of racism, apartheid, oppression, and ethnic cleansing of the original inhabitants. Israel gets more American foreign aid, on sweeter terms, than any other nation, and more than lots of them pooled together. Wake up, America, and look more closely at what your tax dollars are buying. The slaughter in Gaza was just the most recent.

POPSHa'aretz:"Israeli occupation is both brutal and cruel" What is the tipping point when history repeats itself and 60 years later we have a full blown Nazi state in the Middle East. Goebbels might not qualify in the Zionist propaganda machine so well does it function. Convincing the Arab victims that they're to blame and the Zionists are the victims of their numerous atrocities, is some coup. Their latest ploy of requiring Arab-Israel citizens to pass a loyalty test could only come from those whose double/duel loyalty has rightly been questioned! What better than accuse others of your own shortcomings!

POPSRabbi: "Why I Didn’t Celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut" I wonder: if we Jews are ready to honestly face down this “dual reality” how can we possibly view this day as a day of unmitigated celebration? But we do - and not only in Israel. Indeed, there is no greater civil Jewish holiday in the American Jewish community than Yom Ha’atzmaut. It has become the day we pull out all the stops - the go-to day upon which Jewish Federations throughout the country hold their major communal Jewish parades, celebrations and gatherings. I wonder: how must it feel to be a Palestinian watching the Jewish community celebrate this day year after year on the anniversary that is the living embodiment of their collective tragedy? ... fta

POPSBBC Documentary on Israel's Illegal Nuclear Weapons Program So many people get their knickers in a twist over Iran possibly getting nuclear weapons. While that's not a good thing, let's not forget that Iran lives next door to a rogue nuclear state that has started several wars against it's neighbors, namely Israel. Can anyone name a country that Iran has invaded?

POPSBrilliant Cartoon. Anti-Semitic or anti-Zionist?! Oliphant's political cartoon about the Israel-Gaza conflict has sparked a predictable uproar from ADL, who see the cartoon as anti-Semitic. How does one respond to the sight of a Star of David mutant with giant teeth and one evil eye fixated on a defenceless tiny woman, holding a baby? I'm confident that its message is anti-Israel, not anti-Semitic. Israel is obviously the jack-booted headless figure carrying the sword and Star of David as weapons. The jack-boots and goose-stepping are meant to provoke the reader with comparisons to a Nazi storm-trooper. Right?

POPSA Religious War in Israel’s Army In many cases, the religious nationalists have ascended to command positions from precisely the kind of premilitary college course that Mr. Zamir runs — but theirs are run by the religious movements rather than his secular one, meaning that the competition between him and them is both ideological and careerist. “The officer corps of the elite Golani Brigade is now heavily populated by religious right-wing graduates of the preparatory academies,” noted Moshe Halbertal, a Jewish philosophy professor who co-wrote the military code of ethics and who is himself religiously observant but politically liberal. “The religious right is trying to have an impact on Israeli society through the army.”

POPSIs This Last Gasp for the Israel Lobby and the Neocons? People are starting to pay attention and ask serious questions about just how powerful the pro-Israel lobby is in Washington, asking what kind of influence they're wielding, and to whose benefit. Because when Israel's interests and those of the US diverge (as all countries do)... whose interests will you choose, my fellow Americans? I think that's an honest question.

POPSMore & more Jewish Israelis support expelling Arab citizens of Israel This is ethnic cleansing, plain and simple. It is driving people from their homes and ancestral lands, stripping them of their citizenship, all based on their religion & ethnicity. This is what American tax $$$ pays for. Supporting a racist, ethno-state. So much for the myth of Israeli democracy. Remember, they're talking about the roughly 1 million citizens of the state of Israel who happen to be Arab. This includes Christians as well as Muslims. They're talking about stripping them of their citizenship and expelling them. All paid for by American tax dollars.

POPSIsrael: "No on belongs here more than you" Why do I suspect that this advertising campaign isn't targeted at the Palestinians who have been living there for thousands of years, nor their descendants who have been driven out Israeli colonists from Europe?

POPSCar accidents are a greater threat to Israelis than Hamas 3 years of automobile accidents killed more Israelis than 8 years of Palestinian terrorism from all factions , not just Hamas (the boogey-man-du-jour). And the IDF killed that many Gazans, mostly civilians, in 22 days. I'm not defending Hamas or terrorism, no matter who carries it out. I'm just pointing out the numbers people might not be aware of.

POPSMcClatchyde: IDF used Gazans as HUMAN SHIELDS "There is powerful evidence that Israel used the tactic that they are accusing Hamas of using," said Fred Abrahams, a Human Rights Watch senior researcher who's investigating what happened in Gaza during the recent Israeli military offensive, which killed more than 1,200 Palestinians. The Abed Rabbo case also is under investigation by the Israeli human-rights group B'Tselem, which led a long campaign that eventually persuaded the Israeli Supreme Court to order the Israeli military in 2005 to stop using Palestinians as human shields. "The testimony seems pretty extensive and presents grave suspicions that Israeli soldiers forced Palestinians to perform dangerous tasks," said B'Tselem spokeswoman Sarit Michaeli. "And the fact that we're seeing these allegations on such a wide scale leads us to suspect that this was policy and not the decisions of one or two random soldiers."

POPSMuammar Qadaffi - "The One State Solution"
A two-state solution will create an unacceptable security threat to Israel. An armed Arab state, presumably in the West Bank, would give Israel less than 10 miles of strategic depth at its narrowest point. Further, a Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip would do little to resolve the problem of refugees. Any situation that keeps the majority of Palestinians in refugee camps and does not offer a solution within the historical borders of Israel/Palestine is not a solution at all... Assimilation is already a fact of life in… This successful assimilation can be a model for Isratine. If the present interdependence and the historical fact of Jewish-Palestinian coexistence guide their leaders, and if they can see beyond the horizon of the recent violence and thirst for revenge toward a long-term solution, then these two peoples will come to realize, I hope sooner rather than later, that living under one roof is the only option for a lasting peace.

POPS"The Israel Lobby" by Mearsheimer & Walt Other special-interest groups have managed to skew foreign policy, but no lobby has managed to divert it as far from what the national interest would suggest, while simultaneously convincing Americans that US interests and those of the other country – in this case, Israel – are essentially identical. Since the October War in 1973, Washington has provided Israel with a level of support dwarfing that given to any other state. It has been the largest annual recipient of direct economic and military assistance since 1976, and is the largest recipient in total since World War Two, to the tune of well over $140 billion (in 2004 dollars). Israel receives about $3 billion in direct assistance each year, roughly one-fifth of the foreign aid budget, and worth about $500 a year for every Israeli. This largesse is especially striking since Israel is now a wealthy industrial state with a per-capita income roughly equal to that of South Korea or Spain.

POPSIs there really an ancient hatred between Jews & Arabs? Zionism as a political movement espoused the idea that the only place Jews could be safe from the history of pogroms, persecution, and murder they had suffered was in a Jewish state. That's fine as far as it goes, except they chose Palestine to establish this homeland, and espoused the motto A land without a people, for a People without a land . That was a lie. Palestine had people living there continuously for generations, Christian, Muslim, and Jewish. Was there a country called "Palestine" in the early 20th century? No, up until the end of WW1, most of the middle east was just "The Ottoman (Turk) Empire". Today's map of the Middle East was drawn in the 20th century in the aftermath of WW1. Israel declared itself a state in 1948. But to say that Palestine was, at the beginning of the 20th century, "A land without a people" was a lie. http://ifamericansknew.org

POPS"De Israel Lobby" (Dutch TV Documentary, English language version)
Finally the question arises to what extend the pro-Israel lobby ultimately determines the military and political importance of Israel itself. Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson (Colin Powell's ex chief-of-staff) explains how the lobby's influence affects the decision-making structure in the White House. The lobby, Congress, the White House and Israel itself seem to have ended up in a suffocating embrace: will it ever change and how could it?Tony Judt and Richard Perle conclude by raising the crucial matters: what is the alternative? And what other friends can Israel count on? Tony Judt is right: If Israel does not change it's ways and start treating the Palestinians like human beings, the American population may get sick & tired of writing the checks for apartheid and demand their leaders stop supporting Israel. And then Israel will have no friends at all AND the 5th largest nuclear arsenal in the world. Nobody wins in that scenario.

POPSIsraeli Soldiers Refuse to serve in Gaza People here in US can protest and support either side (I believe both sides should choose ceasefire). In Israel or Gaza, choosing not to fight now, on your own, is an act of high moral courage.
