5/1/09: I've decided to police the discussion on the threads that start off my clips, and delete comments that descend into ad hominem a.k.a. "personal attacks", or involve other acts of incivility towards other commenters..

I clip my fair share contentious clips, and I enjoy vigorous debate. But keep it civil, don't get personal.

If I could, I would disemvowel only the sections of comments that are actually uncivil, rude, personal, etc. But Clipmarks doesn't allow that, only deletion of an entire comment or nothing.

As why I've decided to moderate the threads I start, here's some cogent reasons.

And yes, I do in fact have my own moderator's seal of approval
Why I use Clipmarks
Because taking notes on paper and posting them on my front door doesn't get as much exposure.

I've also started using Clipmarks to store research materials for the series of stories I'm writing.

 More: You might say that even if we’re not a menace to other vehicles, we’re a menace to pedestrians. But again the figures don’t stand that up. Cyclists make up about 1 per cent of the traffic in London, and they also cause 1 per cent of the traffic injuries to pedestrians – almost exactly in proportion with their numbers. The injuries they cause are also, as you’d expect, disproportionately at the lower end of the scale. The fact is that only a minority of cyclists indulge in the arrogant behaviour towards pedestrians which gets us a bad name. I would have no problem with a motion that says some cyclists are a menace. But tarring us all with the brush of a minority would be like supporting a motion that says Muslims are a menace. It would be outrageous.”

 It's designed for biking, so the back flap extends down over your butt when you're in the saddle. And they're Scottish, so they know rain. Tried on a size M and it fit me well, but they only had it in the gunmetal grey . It's slim-fitting enough to run comfortably in, but if I'm biking/running in the rain I'm going for the one in "don't-hit-me-you-fucking-oblivious-driver-yellow" rather than the one named "Stealth". ;-)
