POPSCondom Culture: Are Girls Growing Up Too Soon? A parent said: "I want my child's school to protect her - not send her home with a bag of condoms" Although the Government's advisers have not reached a decision, HPV is likely to be offered to 11 and 12-year-old girls. This comes only a week after after Gordon Brown’s pledge to protect childhood with traffic-light warnings on internet sites, video games and films. There are definitely some girls - though very few - in my daughter’s year of 14 and 15-year-olds who are already having sex. But I do object to the condoms, which simply amount to a bagful of encouragement. If we’re talking traffic lights, they are a green light for under-age sex.

POPSComputer Tells When Student's Stole
The Center for Academic Integrity at Duke University reported that 10 percent of students surveyed in 1999 admitted doing so without properly crediting the source. By 2005, the percentage was almost 40 percent. And 77 percent said they didn't think such cheating was a serious issue. It's endemic A mouse click from Davids eliminated matches on the student paper that used quotation marks — those were legitimate. That dropped the "similar" wording to 13 percent. Plagiarism on campus grabbed the state's attention in 2001 when a University of Virginia physics professor, acting on a tip, checked student papers using a homemade computer program. The school eventually charged 158 students with plagiarism. Nineteen months later, 20 students had been found guilty of honor violations and kicked out, another 28 admitted guilt and left the school on their own, and 90 students were exonerated. The rest received lesser punishments or treatment, such as counseling, the university reported.

POPSThe Three Little Pig... Uh Puppies! Yeah! Obviously the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood is way too violent. I think we should change it to a puppy as well. This article finally addresses the 500 pound gorilla in the room. It is high time we clean these "children's" stories up. We can no longer pretend these stories are not offensive and degrading to young girls. We need children's stories that have absolutely no chance of offending anyone regardless of the child's gender, religion, or sexual orientation.

POPSMetro Teachers Sue Over Punishments The September ruling warned that punishing teachers under the directive was an abuse of power, Kondo said the metro government has not changed its stance. It has so far disciplined 345 teachers in junior high school, high school and schools for the disabled. The metro board of education released a statement last September claiming the directive only compelled the teachers to "perform the act of singing or playing the piano, which does not infrige the freedom of conscience."
