POPSThe Most Dangerous Medical Mistake As many as 90,000 Americans die each year from medical errors. This is an issue we all need to be screaming about! A doctor I had been going to for 17years nearly let me die while he finished his office appts. He had sent me to the hospital in an emergency, but didn't show up until 7 hrs later to do the surgery! I was 15 minutes from hemorrhaging to death. I don't trust ANY of them!

POPSBest Use of Grain: Food or Fuel?
"In some U.S. Corn Belt states, ethanol distilleries are taking over the corn supply. In Iowa, a staggering 55 ethanol plants are operating or have been proposed. Iowa State University economist Bob Wisner observes that if all these plants are built, they would use virtually all the corn grown in Iowa. In South Dakota, a top-ten corn-growing state, ethanol distilleries are already claiming over half of the corn harvest." "With so many distilleries being built, livestock and poultry producers fear there may not be enough corn to produce meat, milk, and eggs. " "As the price of oil climbs, it becomes increasingly profitable to convert farm commodities into automotive fuel, either ethanol or biodiesel. In effect, the price of oil becomes the support price for food commodities. Whenever the food value of a commodity drops below its fuel value, the market will convert it into fuel." Geez, the more I learn about ethanol & biodiesel the more I see what a mistake it is for the world.

POPSFrankenfoods: The Unnaturalizing of our Food Supply Time for me to move on a bit. I have said all I want to say about gun control for a while. In this post I turn to an even more frightening example of the greed of the global capitalists, the engineering of the food supply. Genetic engineering and the food additive industries are currently nearly free to do as they wish with and to the food supply. The FDA has been traditionally slow to respond to problems in the food supply and tends to be overwhelmed in the exercise of their regulatory and inspection functions, mainly because the agency is underfunded and cannot adequately staff to fulfill its Congressional mandates. There are significant unknown dangers in both producing and eating genetically engineered foods. For example see Genetically Engineered Foods by Ronnie Cummins, Ben Lillston and Frances Moore Lappe who discuss the business of genetic engineering. I

POPSGMO - what we don't know An interesting article. I, for one, would like to have a choice about what I consume. Without accurate labeling, it's next to impossible to make an informed purchasing decision.

POPSCan we change? I saw this article at PsychologyToday.com and found it very interesting. I'm convinced that major changes in personality are not possible, but I do believe some modification of our outlook and reactions is possible. What do you think?
