POPSCatch and release This is truly messed up. I particularly like the quip about the wallet card. Would our barnyard pals have an eelskin wallet to put it in?

POPSPerpetual hunger or a glass of wine? This small clip is from an article about a research study. The study suggests that a compound in red wine (resveratrol) may protect the heart against the effects of aging. I must agree with researchers that going hungry is a rather steep price to pay for longevity. I'm not sure I want to live longer if I have to be desperately pining for food the whole time. But having a glass of red wine? That I can do.

POPSMost flu shots contain mercury A typical 0.5 milliliter flu shot contains 25 micrograms - or 50,000 parts per billion - of mercury. The EPA classifies a liquid with 200 parts per billion of mercury as hazardous waste. The limit for drinking water is 2 parts per billion. I think it would be well worth the negligible extra cost to get the thimerosal-free shot.

POPSMonsanto in quotes "Genetic power's the most awesome force the planet's ever seen, but you wield it like a kid who's found his dad's gun....and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunch box, and now you're selling it, you want to sell it." -Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park Visit the link to read many other quotes on the issue of GMOs.

POPSBill would ban cell use by teen drivers I hope this passes and gets the ball rolling for similar legislation in other states. I think all drivers, regardless of age, can be distracted by using a cell phone or other device while driving.

POPSFrankenfoods: The Unnaturalizing of our Food Supply Time for me to move on a bit. I have said all I want to say about gun control for a while. In this post I turn to an even more frightening example of the greed of the global capitalists, the engineering of the food supply. Genetic engineering and the food additive industries are currently nearly free to do as they wish with and to the food supply. The FDA has been traditionally slow to respond to problems in the food supply and tends to be overwhelmed in the exercise of their regulatory and inspection functions, mainly because the agency is underfunded and cannot adequately staff to fulfill its Congressional mandates. There are significant unknown dangers in both producing and eating genetically engineered foods. For example see Genetically Engineered Foods by Ronnie Cummins, Ben Lillston and Frances Moore Lappe who discuss the business of genetic engineering. I

POPSThe Most Dangerous Medical Mistake As many as 90,000 Americans die each year from medical errors. This is an issue we all need to be screaming about! A doctor I had been going to for 17years nearly let me die while he finished his office appts. He had sent me to the hospital in an emergency, but didn't show up until 7 hrs later to do the surgery! I was 15 minutes from hemorrhaging to death. I don't trust ANY of them!
