POPSImpossible experiments Psychology Today bloggers were asked what experiment they would love to carry out if neither ethics nor practical reality stood in their way. This is my favorite among the responses.

POPSCatch and release This is truly messed up. I particularly like the quip about the wallet card. Would our barnyard pals have an eelskin wallet to put it in?

POPSPerpetual hunger or a glass of wine? This small clip is from an article about a research study. The study suggests that a compound in red wine (resveratrol) may protect the heart against the effects of aging. I must agree with researchers that going hungry is a rather steep price to pay for longevity. I'm not sure I want to live longer if I have to be desperately pining for food the whole time. But having a glass of red wine? That I can do.

POPSCan we change? I saw this article at PsychologyToday.com and found it very interesting. I'm convinced that major changes in personality are not possible, but I do believe some modification of our outlook and reactions is possible. What do you think?

POPSGMO - what we don't know An interesting article. I, for one, would like to have a choice about what I consume. Without accurate labeling, it's next to impossible to make an informed purchasing decision.

POPSMost flu shots contain mercury A typical 0.5 milliliter flu shot contains 25 micrograms - or 50,000 parts per billion - of mercury. The EPA classifies a liquid with 200 parts per billion of mercury as hazardous waste. The limit for drinking water is 2 parts per billion. I think it would be well worth the negligible extra cost to get the thimerosal-free shot.

POPSBill would ban cell use by teen drivers I hope this passes and gets the ball rolling for similar legislation in other states. I think all drivers, regardless of age, can be distracted by using a cell phone or other device while driving.
