    Web facts erode research
    iskandar
    by iskandar  6-10-2008    1
“The higher-quality materials are not available to them on or off line,” says Tara Brabazon, professor of media at the University of Brighton. She says that Google in itself is not the problem, but students' over-reliance “on any single platform or media ”. But US research suggests that academics may struggle to undo such behaviour. “It is too late to reverse-engineer deeply ingrained habits, notably an uncritical trust in branded search engines to deliver quick fixes.”

Highlight a snippet of content from a page and this Firefox extension will send it to Twitter for you. Diigo can also do this. Seems like a natural extension for Clipmarks.

7 Free Web-based Alternatives to Photoshop

don't forget Google’s Picasa 2 ..very easy to use and though limited it does do some quick and easy cropping, black and white from color, soft focus, slide shows, red-eye removal. It's fast and easy for bulk editing a lot of photos… export (batch resize) all starred images at the end of a session to a folder and bulk upload them to Flickr. It’s not very good/intuitive for resizing photos to exact dimensions
