POPSNeil Aspinall has died (Beatles & fans mourn) Very sad occasion. A friend of the Beatles from the beginning and the Apple Corp. President for many years. I've heard the name before, but didn't grasp the importance of him when it comes to the Beatles until I saw the Beatles Anthology. A most humble, clearly brilliant individual. A very sad moment...

POPSfour80east - Canadian superstars (jazz) For anyone who's into contemporary jazz. This is an excellent CD from a band from Canada. Their last one was released 5 long years ago and it was very good, as well as their debut. If you like modern jazz - get it - you won't be sorry. Another big thumbs up for the Canadians.

POPSRoll-up USB Drum Set In the old day one could put a pair of sticks in one's back pocket... now the whole set could go along with the sticks. Very cool! (if you're a drummer, that is)

POPS4 Godfrey - Urbanator's Chameleon A very worthy remake of Herbie Hancock's Chameleon. Godfrey, since you're into musical redos - I thought you might enjoy this one. Their first CD also features Watermelon Man, not as strikingly done as this one, but not bad at all. In fact, I'd recommend getting the CD if you like this tune. btw, it's Herbie himself on the keys here.

POPSJames Brown is Dead - His Music Will Be Timeless! I've been a huge fan of his since my childhood. The only tune I heard until we came to the USA was mono version of "There It Is" and that was more than enough to totally and fully fall in love with his music. In the States I was lucky enough to see him in concert. He's certainly going to be missed :(

POPSLOVE - BEATLES - Global Listening Event You can listen to some stuff from upcoming Love CD. I'll bet ANY amount of money that it'll reach #1 on the day it comes out (Nov. 21). It's amazing to listen to how they re-fused the old stuff to make new. John & George would be proud, and Paul & Ringo seem to be as well. George & Giles Martin orchestrated the development - best people in world to do so. SUPER EXCITED HERE!!! BEATLES!!! WOW!!!

POPSDavid 'fingers' Haynes shines with his... fingers Some drummers are talented and considered to do extraordinary things with their hands. This guy is just as talented (on the drum spectrum), and I don't know how well he plays with sticks, but he sure does a phenomenal job with just his fingers. See/hear what would be impossible for most people.

POPSThe Hype Machine - Listen to music blogs Interesting concept from a 20-year old Russian American. He aggregates music from a bunch of music blogs, enabling you to listen and then buy it from iTunes or Amazon, if you wish.

POPSPaul, say it isn't so... :( Some extremely serious allegations from the ex there for Paul. Many more in the article than what I clipped. If true - the lovable (at least once) Paul is one mean SOB.

POPSDave Weckl once more Nice new site with various videos/audio gems, including never before seen collaboration between Dave & Jeff Lorber on keyboards playing one of the most famous Herbie Hancock tunes. Too bad they don't sell the whole concert...

POPSJeff Lorber - Fusion Jazz Great composer and keyboardist. Some of the best jazz fusion came from Jeff Lorber Band, including then little known sax player Kenny Gorelick (aka Kenny G). Highly recommended for contemporary jazz fans.

POPSBest Drummer in the World! Amazing drummer! Played with Chic Corea and many others. Incredible technique, style and sheer power that's unmatched in contemporary jazz or most any other music.
