POPSHuckabee: cover up for son's cruel deed reflects dad's ethics Mike Huckabee allegedly covered up for his son David's cruelty to a dog. Do we want a person with Huckabee's lack of ethics in the White House? A bit more from the article (but please read even more at the source): "David Huckabee did not respond to requests for comment. (In April of this year, he was arrested—and paid a fine—when he forgot to remove a loaded gun from his carry-on luggage at Little Rock airport.) His father told NEWSWEEK THAT his son did not engage in "intentional torture." "There was a dog that apparently had mange and was absolutely, I guess, emaciated."A campaign official says David "regrets" the incident and notes that he later made Eagle Scout. Congrats on attaining Eagle Scout rank, David.

POPSVatican forgives John Lennon for Jesus quip continues: "The fact remains that 38 years after breaking up, the songs of the Lennon-McCartney brand have shown an extraordinary resistance to the passage of time, becoming a source of inspiration for more than one generation of pop musicians," it said. Lennon was murdered in New York in 1980.

POPSWhat if the Beatles were avatars? Menno Ophelia, a Resident of Second Life, made this inspired tribute to one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time. His Flickr photostream also has tributes to Nirvana and Kraftwerk. This particular shot was taken in the famous region of Midnight City. Makes me think about how John Lennon might have used a computer to make music.

POPSBo Diddley Dies In Florida At 79 Like B.B. King and other great blues and rhythm-and-blues artists, Diddley's first exposure to music came from church, in this case the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Chicago's South Side. He learned to play the violin and the trombone. At age 12, Diddley took up the guitar after hearing John Lee Hooker's 1949 rhythm-and-blues hit, ``Boogie Chillen.'' ``Diddley claimed that playing the violin influenced his muted-string, choke-neck style of rhythm -- an early forerunner of funk that can be heard on songs like `Pretty Thing,''' the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame says in its official Bo Diddley biography.

POPSA Conservative Youth Culture Comming? Although my politics match my parents, left for left, sometimes I dress more conservatively than they do. They listen to Rancid and Radiohead, and worry about me when I get fed up and talk trash about raw-vegan hippies. Nothing stays the same for long. I have always wondered whether the pendulum will swing back towards the conservative, or whether we will simply become increasingly liberal, liberated and libertine? Looking back, history seems to suggest the later, and each subsequent age has been more liberated than the last... Or am I wrong? Is there in fact a cycle at work here? If so, what place and time has been as socially liberal as we are today?

POPSBo Diddley: R.I.P. Sad to see this great music legend go. Glad that he was able to enjoy the fruits of his labor that finally came when he was well into his later years. Thanks, Bo...Rock n' Roll owes you a debt of gratitude for your gift.

POPSU2..changing their tune on next album i'm down with this plan. my favorite U2 songs are their 'softer' songs..such as running to stand still and all i want is you. i respect the heck out their 'rock' sound, but i've personally always been a bigger fan on their slower stuff. A turn in this direction seems right up my ally.

POPSCreative keyboard This is a PC keyboard with a small musical keyboard attached. I think that is cool all by itself, but this guy also plays a really good drum piece on it.
