POPSGod vs the Bible There is far to much knowledge at this site to do more than clip a few points that will be made. There is a lot of great information to be found here. As I've said before, no one can prove or disprove "a god" or "a creator", but we have ample evidence to show that the bible god is complete fiction.

POPSChristian Child Abuse caught on tape Listen to this audio of a 9 year old girl being mentally abused. She is being forced to accept that Harry Potter put the devil in her. This is child abuse. People like this needs to be locked up, but because of a taboo we allow on discussing religion people like this are allowed to continue, often encouraged. Pardon me while I go throw up now

POPSIs atheism a belief? A refresher. The bottom line is that regardless of what magical sky fairy you do or do not believe in, there is ample evidence to indicate there are basic moral guidelines that all humans have an instinctive nature to follow. The most obvious involves avoiding unnecessary harm to other creatures. By doing so, we reduce the likelihood of unnecessary harm being inflicted upon ourselves, and you don't need to believe in god to recognize that pain and discomfort is something worth avoiding wherever possible. For more information, see Atheism for further details on categories of atheists.

POPStelevangelist attacks wife Obviously they had too much god. They had the ministry, they had the money, but then they thought they had the magic and tried to smite each other.

POPSYoung adults aren't sticking with church Of those that returned or stayed : they grew up with both parents committed to the church (indoctrination), had charismatic pastors (entertained), and church members invested in their spiritual development (got attention) - doesn't this suggest that young adults that do return/stay are not doing it because the message of god is true, but because they simply like the idea of believing because of an emotional payoff?

POPSIndian girl faces total Christian ignorance Video won't clip. Go to source to watch 2 complete Christian idiots berate a girl from India about her religion. 90% of the believers are as brainless as these two, believing what they are told and never questioning it. They spout their believer nonsense, never able to defend it without simply insisting it is true. 'Sarah' claims a Hindu belief and faces the gauntlet of believer ignorance from the carrot and stick threats of heaven and hell, Pascal's wager, and finally being told that she cannot associate as a friend unless she commits to being Christian. These 2 Christian twits cannot even fathom how an Indian girl can be considered Asian and insist her dark skin relegates her to African status, going so far as to call her a liar for denying she is not African. I'm almost thinking this is some kind of joke except Christians really are this arrogant in their beliefs. Definately a Poe's Law here if this turns out to be a spoof.

POPSWhen is a human a human? "Try this thought experiment: you’re walking down the street, and you see a building on fire. You enter it to help anyone out, and see it’s a lab. On one side is a five-year-old boy, and the other is a petri dish clearly labeled as having a dozen fertilized eggs in it. You only have time to rescue the boy or the eggs. What do you do? I would argue that it would be, ironically, an inhuman act to rescue the dish. Yet, according to the law if Prop 48 passes, you would have just chosen to let 12 human beings die to save one."

POPSPeru Meteorite mystery solved I didn't realize the scale of the crater till I saw this picture with the people along the rim. That's as big as my entire yard! Other than the temporary sickness caused by the arsenic, the whole incident would have been very cool to see.

POPSHuman evolution further refined “This is not questioning the idea at all of evolution; it is refining some of the specific points,” Anton said. “This is a great example of what science does and religion doesn’t do. It’s a continuous self-testing process.”

POPSSouth Carolina, Bringing ignorance to a college near you! Three times as much funding for religious schools and supporting the idea of Creationism to supplant evolution. Phil Plait (the Bad Astronomer) points out other ignorances this level of funding generates at http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2007/08/06/time-to-saw-south-carolina-off-from-the-us-and-set-it-free/#comments

POPSAsteroid collision threat further downgraded Some of you may have heard of the asteroid Apophis that is going to pass very close to the earth in 2029? The estimates were that Earth's gravity would nudge it enough that it would return a few years later and hit the Earth. Further orbital calculations have shown that the odds of this happening are even less likely than once thought.

POPSPriests defect to Anglican church Even theological "authorities" on god cannot come to terms about "the rules" and agree upon interpretation. If you cannot even agree about the demands of god within your own house how can you even pretend to have any authority to describe god and interpret your own scriptures to others? I also notice the worry over finances as interesting. I see this as yet one more bit of proof of the commercialization of religion. Seems to me that with church organizations acting like businesses then they should be taxed like them.

POPSMilitary probes atheist GI harrassment claim From the article : Hall said that his free speech and religious rights were violated a year ago when he sat down with soldiers to eat a Thanksgiving holiday dinner. When asked to join hands and pray, Hall declined, but sat as the other soldiers prayed over the food. A sergeant asked why he would not pray and Hall told him he was an atheist, meaning he does not believe in God. The sergeant demanded that Hall move to another table and not sit with the other soldiers. Hall said he stayed and ate without speaking to the others.

POPSChristianity's crumbling foundation The bible, the source of Christian religion, is such a corrupted and edited book. It really brings home the fact that people believe because they want to believe, not because they have any real solid foundation to their faith.
