About me
Years ago, I was silly and young enough to think the term Global Diversity meant people.

I learned that corporations have a different idea.

I still believe that Global diversity should celebrate the fact that we are all from the same place--mother earth , yet we are all different --
When we learn to embrace the differences without fear, we will be free.

Same but different. Celebrate the differences.

I am a Diversity Advocate, a fear fighter.
I hope for a more sensible and tolerant society. I believe it is stronger and braver and harder to live for peace than fight in a war.

I believe that to question authority and debate issues shows a love for true democracy.

Fear is ignorance.
Why I use Clipmarks
Clipmarks is a great digest, a reflection of the changing world around us.

I use Clipmarks as a sketchbook of the world around me. I see something that interests me, and I clip it and quickly jot down my thoughts, however raw and unpolished they may be, my gut feelings... for later.

Clipmarks feels like internet photography because I have a snapshot of what was important to me at the time and what I might have felt about it.

I have learned a bit and I have been challenged and encouraged by the clips and clippers.

Visiting here is a great way to sum up the day/week.
I like the sense of immediacy, the change of content, and the community.

I also like the fact that you can integrate clipmarks into blogs and other web applications.

I also appreciate the opinions of others and the opportunity to immediately engage with clippers on the issues. I also enjoy the encouragement of fellow clippers and the respectful nature of most clippers when opinions collide.

CAUTION:: Clipmarks is very, very, very addictive.

Lessons from a rapper to Iraq
NonStatQuo
by NonStatQuo  4-11-2008
I was listening to an internet radio neosoulcafe.com (which, by the way, internet radio is under threat). And I heard a song called "my block" by Tupac Shakur. While I was fairly familar with Tupac, I had a peep over on wikipedia and found this. Tupac was a clever and angry young man. His album Thug Life was kind of a clever acronym of sorts.... For some reason, it reminded me of the faces of the children I have seen in Iraq photos. The victims of war. And I am reminded of what we do, what we have done, may not be over when we pull the troops out from those countries we have invaded. A long stretch from thug rapper to iraq? maybe? maybe not. I went to

Mary Seacole: Black British Heroine
mickfinn
by mickfinn  2-13-2008    11
Mary Jane Grant was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1805. Her father was a Scottish soldier, and her mother a Jamaican. Mary learned her nursing skills from her mother, who kept a boarding house for invalid soldiers. Although technically 'free', being of mixed race, Mary and her family had few civil rights - they could not vote, hold public office or enter the professions. In 1836, Mary married Edwin Seacole but the marriage was short-lived as he died in 1844.

Is it real or is it Photoshop?
NonStatQuo
by NonStatQuo  2-12-2008
Some amazing photoshopped images. The scary part? Well, I just clipped the ones that "looked" like they could be real. Photoshop is a remarkable tool in the hands of skilled and creative people. But gawd, it could be also used to convince us of a reality that does not exist.

Are the 3 little pigs racist?
NonStatQuo
by NonStatQuo  1-23-2008
It must be April fools come early. It must be. I have watched the UK get political correctness wrong so many times before and this is another example of overkill. I want to know, am I wrong? Do any Muslims find the three little pigs racist and offensive? Please tell me.

This is my positive clip for the week. Hawaii is a very beautiful place to visit. I only wish I could absorb more of the "good vibes" emanating from this special place. I visited once, vow to go back and strive to walk in aloha on a daily basis. Here is an artist whom I play without fail at least once a month.
