POPSDeclawing - What You Need To Know Of all the "well-intentioned" things people do to their pets, this has always been the worst IMO. I have seen cats suffer tremendous lifelong chronic pain, after this barbaric surgery. Some even having to be put down after botched surgery. Another side effect is, that if a cat is "a scratcher", amputating their toes often turns them into biters instead. (Please don't pull all their teeth either!! *LOL*) Anyway...the whole problem here lies not in that cats have claws, it lies in people not providing the appropriate environment for the cat . A simple scratching post and a bit of education is all you need, to have a happy healthy non-destructive cat WITH all it's toes (and teeth). Cats live 3-dimensional lives, as apposed to dogs, who live in two. Being able to climb is essential for the well-being of a cat. Cats have toes and claws for a reason!! Please don't mutilate your pet, but get smart instead. Your cat will thank you for it, and so will I. :)

They were able to match successfully more than half the time, far better than chance. Similar to the San Diego study, the subjects later said they matched mostly by looking for personality traits that they believed the dogs and their owners shared. Scientists suspect that some people look for certain traits or predispositions when choosing a dog that reflect their own personalities. THE BOTTOM LINE Some studies argue that dogs can resemble their owners, but the research is debatable.

POPSDog saves master with heimlich maneuver It was given the dog of the year award at the dog and cat of the year awards given by the ASPCA. A cat was awarded a prize for waking someone up in a fire and there were awards given to people, but I'm sure not even many people would have the sense to do the Heimlich maneuver, and cats aren't heavy enough. Both of the award winners were saved after being left abandoned as a puppy and a kitten.

POPSAre The Chinese Trying To Tell Us Something? This is scary. My family does not live and can not yet afford to move to a property where we can produce our own food; particularly, vegetables and fruits. We don't live near a farmer's market. So, we rely, like many Americans, on our local commissary or supermarket. The way I read this article, it's telling us there is very little we can do about this problem of tainted food and other necessities because by squashing China's imports we would be shooting ourselves in the foot. So it seems as if China is sending us poison--because they can. And there is nothing we can do about it. Even a vegan diet is not immune to potential poisoning unless you totally go homegrown.

POPSDo Dolphins Have a Sense of the Future? It is their ability to understand sentences of sign language that astound though, with a sentence like “touch the frisbee with your tail and then jump over it” returning just that from the dolphin. This proves more than just rigorous training is the answer, but an understanding of what we are asking of them.
