POPSHaida Gwaii, Traditional Circle of Elders Grandfather, help me learn these important values; Trust, Respect and Honor. "Parents have to demonstrate the value of trust, respect and honor." In todays society it is very hard to demonstrate these values, when our leaders show they have no Trust, Respect or Honor. Cougar

POPSHaida Gwaii, Traditional Circle of Elders Great Teacher, help me to understand Your principals. "In order for our children to survive in the world, they need a firm understanding and belief in the basic principles of sharing, freedom, and respect of individuality." To many in this world have this opinion of them selfs as better than everyone around them, those who believe that what they acquire in life makes them what they are, when only what you have done for others is the true definition of a man. Your children will look to you for guidance, if you do the later, your children will do well in their life. Cougar

POPSRed Cloud, Oglala Lakota Through out my life, I have owned many cars, trucks, a boat, farms, Trailers, and left them all behind without a second thought, but the people around me scoffed at me for loosing these things, they are only things and mean anything in my eyes and heart. I was happy living in a tent in the bush, my children told me they would be happy living with me in the tent, because there was love there and that is what we all need, we don't need things in our lives to make us happy, we need each other. POPSLakota Proverb In many societies today the parents are to busy to teach their children what is good and what is bad. Todays child spends most of their time playing games, talking on cell phone/phone or watching tv, they don't know what it is to talk to each other as a family, to eat their meals together as a family, so how can they learn, the world moves on a different time now as to what it did in my fathers time. Even though I have spoken these words, I believe in my heart that WE can make a difference in our children's lives if we teach them the values we were tought as children, it is never to late, never to late to try. POPSHaida Gwaii, Traditional Circle of Elders It is the responsability of all members of the Tribe to educate and teach the child, never with the stick but with understanding and love, the old ways were like this, today the tv teaches our children with hate violence and greed. Mothers are the back bone of the family and must be respected and will teach our children in the right ways, but they must walk to Red Road to do this.

POPSMothers One sees more and more mothers abusing and killing their own children these days and for what? Some for greed, some for freedom, some for another life with someone else, the Courts give to much the idea of post part um depression while forgetting the children that are suffering and suffered from their hands.
