POPSCopy Editing America I applaud this man. I think he hits the nail on the head when he said that mistakes breed mistakes. I realize that a language is an evolving entity, but it still irks me when a word gets added to the dictionary (thus legitimizing it) because it becomes overused incorrectly.

POPSTexter - fast abbreviation substitution If you find yourself answering many emails the same way, or need to paste in a complex bit of HTML over and over, this could be extremely helpful. {{Communicatrix}} also suggested that I look at TextExpander for the same function on Mac

POPSProper Linking Although I am not as irked as Jack Shafer, I do agree with him. My biggest link grumble: writers who link the word "here."

POPSSemicolon Obsolete? When I first saw this article on clipmarks, clipped by righthand, I thought is was a bit of April Foolery. I was so intrigued, I went to the full article to read about the obsolete semicolon. The semicolon turns out to be the tip of an iceberg. The larger issue being "For many believers, the defence of the point-virgule is, of course, a logical extension of France's ongoing battle against the inexorable decline of its language." "French is becoming increasingly anglicised." I do not think there is any foolishness in the decline of a language.

POPSDealing with Failure "If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got." My definition of failure is: being so determined to be "right" you deny your ability to succeed. If you find yourself getting defensive, then you are protecting your need to be right. In some cases this is appropriate, in other cases it clouds your vision.
