POPSSeven Cardinal & Contrary Virtues Most people are aware of the seven deadly (or cardinal) sins, but few are aware that there are two sets of seven virtues as well, one set standing in direct contrast to the sins. I find it interesting that a page devoted to atheism had a concise and easily found description of these attributes, but the religious sites I visited required wading through reams of theology much too extensive to clip. There is a clip on the Seven Cardinal Sins posted at http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/B17AB9AE-948C-4C29-8867-F0FC3434B26B/ by Sheroug.

POPSChina Bans Reincarnation The question is, what can they really do to prevent a Tulku or a Lama from being recognized? Even if the authorities can limit the influence of such figures, but Tibet is a big place with borders that are hard to secure. It wouldn't be impossible to get any such boy out of the country where he could be invested with his office in exile, as is the current Dalai Lama. In any case, the government cannot prevent the spiritual process of reincarnation any more than they could command a Christian to go to heaven or hell.

POPSGermany 1935? Middle Ages? Fahrenheit 451? - Take Your Pick The article goes on to say, "Sadler said people should bring anything that represents Satan in their lives to the burning - it doesn't have to be book. "'Harry Potter' books, Goosebumps books, Ouija boards, etc..." Sadler said. He said the world needs to go back to the values that this nation was founded on, "biblical values". "This is a call to definition between what is good and evil; God and Satan," Sadler said. What's really dismaying about this newspaper item is that the heading gives the time and place as if this were a social event or a bake sale. "If my own father were a heretic, I would personally gather the wood to burn him" -- Pope Paul IV

POPSNot So Fast, Christian Soldiers - War or Crusade? Have you ever noticed that almost all religious wars involve monotheistic religions? I have looked and cannot come up with an instance when one polytheistic culture waged religious war against another polytheistic culture. There's always a monotheist involvement - maybe that's because with only one god, the monos think they have more to lose. Read the clip source and the original article
