POPS400GB optical disc invented by Pioneer Blu-ray comes in single layer (25GB) and dual-layer (50GB) flavors. Pioneer does say that because the lens specification for reading the discs is similar to Blu-ray, “it is possible to maintain compatibility” between its disc and Blu-ray discs. That’s not saying it will be compatible, but it would make sense since Pioneer is one of the original Blu-ray Disc Association members. However, plans for that archiving project will have to be put on pause if you want to use this technology. Pioneer is going to demonstrate it at an industry conference next week, but for now the disc is read-only. Eventually, they’ll add write capability as well.

POPSCuba lifts ban on home computers From the website: The government says it is unable to connect to the giant undersea fibre-optic cables because of the US trade embargo. All online connections today are via satellite which has limited bandwidth and is expensive to use. Cuba's anti-American ally, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, is laying a new cable under the Caribbean. It remains unclear whether, once the connection is completed, the authorities will then allow unrestricted access to the world wide web.

POPSGuzzling Girls: Arrests of drunken women up 1,100% heh, seems to be a lot of negativity against women in the press these days... first the dirty keyboards, now this! Interesting story though!, but I wish they compared to how much the increase is for arrests of men! That would really show if there's a lot of meaning to this story...

POPS Keyboards 'dirtier than a toilet' Wow! This is just dirty! I hate it when people eat at their desks... more so if they don't wash their hands after eating, or eat oily/fried stuff while typing... Just disgusting! What's interesting though, is that the study says "compared to men, on average women have three to four times the amount of germs in, on and around their work area". ! Who'd ever think that possible!? heh
