About me
My husband and I have been married for nearly 39 years. We have 3 adult (kinda') children and 5 awesome grandchildren.

My Christian faith and tennis are large in my life. For the last 16 yrs. I've been the caregiver of my MIL, my Dad, my Grandchildren, and now my Mother. It has been hard and the internet allows my mind to escape for a while.
Why I use Clipmarks

Obama calls for rebates for consumers...to be more energy efficient
jatfla
by jatfla  Yesterday 9:08 PM
I can tell you from experience. We have added a new roof, new insulation, new 'energy-efficient' windows, lowered our thermostat....with zero results. During the hot months of July-Sept and the cold months of Dec- Feb. our utility bills are still near $400. a month. No matter what *they* say, our energy bills will never go down unless we cut our utilities OFF!!! The more we conserve, the more revenue they lose so the more they raise the rates. It's that simple.

The Teachers' Unions that Stole Christmas
jatfla
by jatfla  Yesterday 8:17 AM    1
But I remember reading where a professor received a grant to study volcanic activity in S. America under the Stimulus Bill. It makes sense that the NEA and teachers' unions would not support anything that would send children to private schools. The public education system is in such rapid decline that no thinking person wants their child there and no politician or wealthy person who can afford a private school would do otherwise. And the public schools that DO have some good teachers are losing them because of the stress and work load.

Dems cut Medicare Home Health Services to fund uninsured
jatfla
by jatfla  12-7-2009
This will definitely effect me and my household. For 20+ yrs. I have cared for my elderly family members. With my MIL she could afford to have someone come in and help me and sit with her while I ran errands or took a break. She had Home Health Care aids from the hospital (paid partially by Medicare) come several times to check on her and help with bed sores. My Dad had to be in a nursing home and Medicare helped. My Mom is now with me and I depend on the CNA's and Eldercare Services to help me with bathing. The beds, wheelchairs, etc....were affordable with the Medicare coverage. My Mom will also lose her Medicare Advantage. So...what are we to do with our elderly? If Mr. Baucus' mother is receiving benefits from Medicare and other government services, then shame on him. On their salaries, surely they can afford to take care of their own parents.

by jatfla  12-6-2009    2
Aren't we all encouraged by the serious, dedicated, bi-partisan, transparent work being done by our *representatives* in Washington?? However, I believe they were surely watching the wrong sport. I guess it's not basketball season when their thoughts would be more in tuned to a 'slam-dunk' against the American peoples' wishes regarding their HealthCare bill. I watched Durbin today hammer against the American Insurance companies saying that the Government could offer the citizens a much more fair and balanced option for their health care. His main concern seemed to be the private insurances and drug company's profits. So this really is about a full-frontal attack on the free-market system, capitalism, and our choice as to who we want to entrust our insurance/health care coverage to. While they party and watch a football game during their 'negotiating session', you & I get to worry about what they are going to do to us through the ramifications of this horrible bill that they in

Retired Nave SEAL questions Nation's Priorites

by jatfla  12-5-2009    1
I don't believe the "Nation" questions this. I think that the anti-American Left and the anti-war, anti-Bush proponents have made this an issue. Who will fight or stand for American interests when they risk criminal prosecution? This doesn't even rise to the level of Abu Ghraib ...which in my opinion was not news-worthy, just dumb.

Wish the Feds would do something about the Chinese sucking oil from under our waters via Cuba.

I'm sorry that most of us are not good *witnesses* for Christ but willing hearts want to learn, grow, and serve others in our own God-enabled ways. Apparently Leigh Anne Tupohy gave the Gospel and didn't necessarily need to use words. :~)

Matthews on West Point: CIC goes to "enemy camp" tonight...
jatfla
by jatfla  12-2-2009
Sadly I believe Chris Matthews is right. Obama is no friend to the military. Why would he even go there? This is the training center for the future military leaders of our National Defense. Those who go there are dedicated to the protection of our Country and the defeat of all enemies, both foreign and domestic. With his tepid response to the efforts in Afghanistan, his wimpish behavior towards Iran, the do-nothing approach to N. Korea, and the bankrupting of our economy...not to mention his habit of apologizing every where he goes ..... I sense that West Point isn't the only place that could be considered the "enemy camp".

10 Reasons Nuclear Iran is No Joke
jatfla

One is enough. While the World is busily playing word-games, Iran (and it's allies) are bursting forward with their nuclear weapons growth and spreading their influence around the globe. They're not even pretending anymore...they're telling the wold, flat-out, that they are seeking domination! I'm convinced that if tiny Israel takes the Shot, the rest of the so-called free world will line itself up *behind* Israel. Surely, in whatever reality they possess in their minds, they know that Iran is the biggest threat to peace. And when Iran moves, it's going to be huge.
