POPSDon't Blame Pot -- There's No Such Thing as a "Gateway Drug" If marijuana is a "gateway drug" then why has heroin use in Amsterdam only increased slightly in the past 20 years since it was decriminalised two decades ago? By contrast heroin use in the US has risen more than 1,000% over the same period. Is it because unlike the USA, people ion the Netherlands who want to smoke pot can go to a coffee shop to buy their drugs, instead of being forced to buy from criminals who also sell other drugs? Maybe US authorities could learn something from their European neighbours?
