POPSVeteran Soldiers against the War Five years ago tonight, on March 19th 2003, the U.S. launched the invasion of Iraq. Half a decade later, as the occupation continues with no end in sight, some of the most powerful voices against the war have been the men and women who have fought in it. For four days this past weekend, soldiers convened at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland for Winter Soldier, an eyewitness account of the war and occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan. We broadcast their voices.

POPSUS Military Deaths, Just a Number Only, declined, the casualties first suffered, since, the latest, at least 4,153, since....2003 These words used in the article seem to detach themselves from the fact that "our " brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, husbands, and friends are being killed in a war with Iraq. It makes me think that people may be viewing this as just " war " and maybe compared to " the Vietnam War " and not as " the war on terrorism " or " the fight for freedom." Maybe " that " is why people protest this war, not against the soldiers that are led there, but " the Politics behind it ". I may be wrong and you may not care what I think, but I hope " I still have the freedom ", to say it.

POPSBush seeks to make "war powers" permanent "Tucked deep into a recent proposal from the Bush administration is a provision that has received almost no public attention, yet in many ways captures one of President Bush’s defining legacies: an affirmation that the United States is still at war with Al Qaeda. POPSMurder's You Can Feel Sorry For The experience turned the young Americans not only into professional documentary makers but gave direction to their lives. Their direction is to bring attention to this human disaster, hoping that the attention will force governments to apply pressure to resolve the conflict and free the children. You can also make a difference in the lives of these children. But you are going to have to watch the film first.

POPSAfghanistan is “becoming a sort of surreal hunting estate" War Gone Bad There is no mystery as to why things have gone increasingly badly for the United States and its allies. As the United States steps up its air war, civilian casualties have climbed steadily over the past two years. Nearly 700 were killed in the first three months of 2008, a major increase over last year. In a recent incident, 47 members of a wedding party were killed in Helmand Province. In a society where clan, tribe, and blood feuds are a part of daily life, that single act sowed a generation of enmity. Anatol Lieven, a professor of war at King’s College London, says that a major impetus behind the growing resistance is anger over the death of family members and neighbors. Lieven says it is as if Afghanistan is “becoming a sort of surreal hunting estate, in which the U.S. and NATO breed the very terrorists they then track down.”
