About me
I'm very happily married to my angelic wife, Kathleen, a devout Christian.

My profession is journalism and I am a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Most recently, I was the managing editor of a daily I co-founded.

My wife and I have seven children between us and many grandchildren.

I'm a Bahá'í.

Bahá'ís believe the purpose of life is to know and worship God, to acquire virtues, to promote the oneness of humankind and to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization.

We also believe all humanity was created by one God and is part of one human race.

We also believe the soul, created at the moment of conception, is destined by God to reach the afterlife, where it will continue to progress until it attains the presence of God

In addition to the blog listed in my profile, I have a blog portal, http://glennfrancosimmons.blogspot.com/, and the following blogs:

Iranian Government Guilty of Genocide
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  1-5-2010
Genocide has no statute of limitations. Genocide is defined internationally as the attempt, in whole or in part, to eradicate -- i.e. exterminate -- a group of people on the basis of religion, race, culture and/or politics, etc. Where is the world's outrage? The Iranian people are complicit in this genocide, and they will have the shame of allowing. Future generations will see Iran the same as we now see Nazi Germany. Iran just hasn't launched its final extermination assault on Iran's largest religious minority. Give it time.

How Long Must Terrorism Go On? How Long?
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  12-30-2009
As U2 sings, "How long must this go on; how long?" Religion was not established to murder and be blessed. What wayward thinking that will only bring doom to those who kill in the name of God.

Founders of Religions As One

The Necessity of An Educator
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  12-25-2009
It is not correct to say all religions are the same; they are not. However, it is truthful to say that all divinely inspired religions, and their Manifestations (Moses, Krishna, Zoroaster, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, etc.) receive Their inspiration from the same Source, the Ancient of Days. So why do we fight? Why is blood shed? Why is there terrorism? Why are there wars? Why is there such a disparity of wealth and poverty in this world, where we are all one, created by the same loving God? Why all this misery when we are brothers and sisters of the same human family where the artificial concept known as race doesn't matter a bit. We are one human race with a magnificent diversity of cultures, lifestyles, viewpoints and religions.

by GlennFrancoSimmons  12-23-2009
If soldiers facing-off in The Great War could spontaneously enact a Christmas truce, how difficult is it to establish peace in this world, really? How much longer the anguished cries from every continent? How long?

'It's A Wonderful Life,' Indeed
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  12-19-2009
It's A Wonderful Life" is my favorite Christmas classic because it is a story of hope and redemption. One that in many ways transcends the movie itself. At a time when the movie's star actor, Jimmy Stewart, was wondering if he had lost the "magic" that had made him a pre-war Hollywood titan, director Frank Capra asked the World War II hero if he would play a part in a film he was producing.

Furious Favre Awes Even Me, The Antagonist

Any mention of Brett Favre around me was enough for me to spit out the nails. That was before today's game. Now I'm on home redecoration after he snatched victory from the Niners. The guy is just darn awesome. Each time I say that, it's like pulling a wisdom tooth with pliers and no pain reliever. Niners are not perfect, but I'll take their spirit today over a win in the past few years. I've always been one for hustle. If you hustle and you lose, you lose. Move on. If you win and are lazy, that is worse, to me. Call it Glenn's ying and yang of football. Book is coming out soon. Be sure to buy it.

Turning Toward Humanity's Unity

I've never bought the lie about the differences among races. I've never seen the human family as anything distinct from a single family. Different hues of one color. Humans Are As Leaves Of One Branch
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  9-27-2009
If you are hung over in an anguished sense after seeing the display of anti-Semitic leaders at the United Nations this past week, there is hope, but I admit, there are times when I lose some hope that the world's future will be a peaceful one. I'm tired of the Jew-hating, the Jew-baiting that has gone on for so many generations. As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked, "Have you no shame." Let me repeat that: HAVE YOU NO SHAME, you criminals sitting here? Have you no shame for your crimes against humanity? Is it not a crime against humanity to call for the extermination of an entire nation comprised mostly of our fellow brothers and sisters who happen to be Jewish? I'm sick of it. Anger, yes, and then I reflect that, if we are all leaves of one branch, branches of one tree, that ultimately humanity will awaken to its unity in its diversity. And, rather than kill, murder, maim, imprison, torture and rape in the name of "religion," we can l

U2 Asks: How Long Must Terror Go On?
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  9-22-2009
Peoples of all faiths, cultures, countries, creeds, whatever -- however you define yourself, must unite as one. In my Faith, we call it unity in diversity, although that has now been co-opted by other groups seeking to exploit its true religious meaning. Nonetheless, in this age of the Internet, of instant communications, it is up to the peoples of the world to ensure this small planet's unity. Our leaders waste precious breath, time and resources in their continuing childish political and religious battles, only becoming serious because many have the means to destroy many of us in a single blast, or a single campaign. The peoples of the world need to throw to the scrap heaps of history the outmoded mechanisms of change in the past, namely revolution of whatever political or religious brand you choose, and choose instead a nonviolent revolution of the heart and soul. One that changes humanity from within. Let the foolish leaders continue to be blabbermouths, distorting

Unless we have change on the local level -- real personal change that enables humanity to mature, we will be stuck with the Third and Fourth Worlds of poverty, despair, disease and war.

It is the brilliance of an artist whose work leaves an expanse through which each experiential prism is individual. If you watch the film, you may experience mine. Then again, you may not. Such is the beauty of artistry.

Boycott PETA, Not Michael Vick
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  8-15-2009
Showing it has no class and will stop short of no immoral act, PETA continues to equate cruelty that includes the killing of animals to The Holocaust. PETA forced its 2003 "Holocaust on your Plate" exhibition that juxtaposed human Holocaust victim images with images of factory farming. I don't care if it was a Jewish man who lost relatives in The Holocaust who created the exhibit. That fact does not make him infallible, nor does it justify a repulsive comparison. It only shows PETA's moral low ground. And it shows unfortunately the waywardness of the Jewish man who was exploited by PETA. Plus, many Jewish organizations and Jews feel the same way I do.

2/09 Genocide Has No Statute of Limitations

For a county that prides itself on championing so many "causes," there are few among its "enlightened beings" who realize even this basic detail. Such so-called "progressives" remain woefully and hypocritically indifferent. On the other side of the ideological spectrum are those who believe "it's time to move on." Their indifference is partly based upon a fear of losing land.
