POPSThe myth of "self organization" explained. A cell will die (increase in entropy, or decay) if it dose not receive nutrition from outside itself. Fortunately, the cell is an open system, meaning it can take in energy from the outside environment (nutrition) and put back out an equal amount of energy (heat and entropy), keeping the cell alive (causing order) by reducing the increasing entropy (decay), causing it to neither fall nor rise. This is "self ordering" and not "self organizing," a VERY big difference. Order is the systematic arrangement of something, meaning the "order" mentioned above is referring to an arrangement "of, characterized by, based on, or constituting a system" (Dictionary.com definition for systematic). Organizing, on the other hand, is taking a system and adding information (from out side) to make it work better then before. Thing is, "self organization" requires a lack of external information (hence the word "self"). ~* {FS} *~

POPSCircular Reasoning Evolutionist: "This pig weighs 100 lbs." Creationist: "Are you sure?" Evolutionist: "Yes." Creationist: "How do you know?" Evolutionist: "Because it weighs the same as this 100 lb rock." Creationist: "And how do you know that?" Evolutionist: "How do I know what?" Creationist: "That the rock weighs 100 lbs." Evolutionist: "Well, duh! Because the pig weighs 100 lbs and they both weigh the same!" I swear, this could be a comedy routine. ~* {FS} *~

POPSEvolution is not a law. The laws of science can NEVER change. If nature contradicts a scientific law, then the law is wrong and must be scraped and written anew. ~* {FS} *~

POPSEvolution and the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that things fall apart over time rather than becoming more organized, unless there is already a mechanism in place to build things up. If all you need is an open system, then you could just stand right behind a jet engine as the aircraft prepares for takeoff, absorb the blast of energy, and evolve to a higher life form. In reality, of course, you would be incinerated because absorbing energy without a mechanism to convert it to a useful form is destructive or useless. ~* {FS} *~

POPSAn accurate reproduction of the original evidence for Global Warming. This is a continuation of the clip "I've read better paperback Sci-Fi novels." Professor Mann is one of three scientists, Mann, Bradley, and Hughes, who produced one of the fundamental graphs used by the IPCC in 2001 to prove that late 20th Century warming was proceeding at a dangerously enhanced rate. However, statistics expert Steven McIntyre and economics professor Ross McKitrick attempted to reproduce this graph and in doing so discovered that it was done very poorly. ~* {FS} *~

POPSI've read better paperback Sci-Fi novels. Let me first explain the "112 such proxy records." When the climate is warm fossil coral and trees grow more and exhibit wider rings, and when it is colder they grow less and their growth rings are narrower. This allows measurements across the annual rings to be used as a proxy temperature curve. I should also explain that Mann, Bradley and Hughes produced one of the fundamental graphs (discussed above) used by the IPCC in 2001, which concluded that late 20th Century warming was proceeding at a dangerously enhanced rate. ~* {FS} *~

POPSIt's not the first time and it won't be the last. The question isn't whether or not Global Warming is happening, but rather is it our fault or even if it is such a big problem. It seems to me that the Earth is simply going through a natural cycle, as can be seen from the medieval warm period that produced temperatures high enough to actually make Greenland green (as opposed to covered in ice as it is now). If global temperatures were higher from 1100 to 1400 while human CO2 production was practically zero (not a lot of car or plains back then), then maybe there really is nothing we can do to stop it (see clips regarding the sun and the ocean). ~* {FS} *~

POPSEarth's heat lamp. It's hot, it's huge, it's out of our control, and it's part of the problem. If you want to cool the Earth you'll have to cool the sun. ~* {FS} *~

POPSThe island effect. Why have measurements taken at ground level shown an increase in temperature while measurements in the atmosphere have remained the same? If that's true the Earth can't be heating up, can it? ~* {FS} *~

POPSIt's not our fault! People just don't seem to realize that trying to stop Global warming is like trying to fight nature. ~* {FS} *~
