     Yes, as is casting a sighted actor to play a blind character; and casting a homosexual actor to play a heterosexual character. Did that successfully highlight the absurdity of Ms. Bove's comment? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the lovely and talented Marlee Matlin's work, and would hate for her to be overlooked for a role which she would be perfect for, but I think Ms. Bove goes too far. (I singled out Ms. Matlin because she's the only deaf actor I could come up with off the top of my head.)

     This is a really interesting video (that wouldn't clip). It compares the elimination of cultures to the elimination of species and tries to put it into context. It's a lot of info in a short time and touches on a lot of topics

     I'm amazed by the selfish attitudes I encounter on a regular basis. However, I'm pleasantly surprised by acts of courtesy, like a polite greeting I received just yesterday from a stranger I passed in a parking lot. I guess perhaps I should be sad that it surprises me, though.
