POPSAmericans Overwhelmingly Want GOP to Work w/ Obama Not only do Americans want the GOP to work with Obama as President, but they want the GOP to embrace his progressive views. The poll indicates Americans voted for him because they thought his views were the right ones. The cooperation the Americans want will not happen, of course. Already GOP names are being floated to run against him and right-wing media personalities have begun to attack him.

POPSWas McCain a Socialist in 2000, Obama Asks Red-baiting is a 2-edged sword. And while I' at it, I will interject an argument I heard one commenter make on TV tonight: Sarah Palin is the most socialist governor in the US. After all, her state publicly owns its oil fields, it leases those fields to oil companies and the state provides each Alaskan with a check from the rent the state charges the oil companies. If Palin wanted a true capitalistic arrangement, she would support selling the oil fields to private concerns. But she doesn't. Does anyone think, therefore, she is a commi?

POPSFreddie Mac Paid $2 Million to Target Republican Senators In 2005 Freddie Mac paid a consulting firm $2 million to target Republican Senators to kill legislation that would have regulated the institution and perhaps save it from collapse. In a letter written to then Majority Leader Bill Frist, Sen. Chuck Hagel and 25 other GOP Senators warned: ""If effective regulatory reform legislation ... is not enacted this year, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system and the economy as a whole." Little did they know that they were being done in by their own colleagues under the influence of an intense lobbying campaign. This is yet another smoking gun.

POPSEvery Woman in America Should Be Angry at John McCain After Barack Obama described how he opposes late term abortion except where the life and health of the mother are placed at risk, John McCain cast aspersion on the relevance of the health exception by using air quotes and treating the seriousness of the exception sarcastically. I guess the long-term health of pregnant women has little regard to John McCain.

POPSRacist Acts at Sarah Palin Rally As predicted the McCain/Palin strategy of attacking Obama as "other than us" is reaping great dividends among racists. Only idiots didn't know that such swill would feel emboldened by such an approach.
1
POPSDoes This Guy Still Have Old Issues or What? Poor John McCain. No wonder he won't release any mental health records. This is a classic Freudian Slip if I have ever heard one. It would be dangerous to let him work out his unresolved issues through the office of the presidency.
3
POPS"That One" What? At a minimum McCain's reference to Obama as "that one" was dehumanizing if not racist. One of McCain's nastier traits is his capacity to objectify people. It's a characteristic of people with pathological anger problems.
2
POPSThe Failed Bailout's Fallout for McCain "I went to Washington last week to make sure that the taxpayers of Ohio and across this great country were not left footing the bill for mistakes made on Wall Street and in Washington," McCain said at a campaign rally in the swing state of Ohio. McCain shows up in DC, has a few conversations with Congressional leaders, is seen walking through a lobby in the congressional building and tries to create the illusion that he brokered an economy-saving deal. It was all smoke and mirrors. Worse, there was no deal. McCain had no sway with the House Republicans. He failed to deliver what he promised. That failure is fair game.

POPSThen Let Them Pay Taxes If ministers want to use their non-partisan churches to preach partisan politics, then let them get a tax bill and explain to their parishioners why it needs to be paid. It's not as if the US budget couldn't use the extra revenue.

POPSOn John cCain's Angry Debate Performance I have a different theory about McCain's angry debate performance. Although I don't deny that McCain failed to look Obama because he was angry, I believe that he didn't look at Obama as a way to control his anger from becoming outright rage. It's a device used by people with anger management problems. Look away so that the anger doesn't become overly personal or even violent--to make it as if the other person is not in the room. John McCain has to do these things because he is pathologically angry. He is a man who can't help himself in ways...someone who deserves our pity and compassion but not our votes.

POPSMcCain Blames Obama for Wall Street Crisis Is he senile or just dumb? McCain, who has been in Washington DC for 3 decades and has lobbyists as advisers out the yin-yang, says Obama is the Washington insider who brought the crisis about? That's how I spell desperation.

POPSBut, John, You Can't Fire the SEC Chair One of the biggest myths of the current presidential campaign is the competence of John McCain. He makes elementary blunders often (like thinking that the Pime Minister from Spain is located in Latin America). Some are now speculating that something is "up" with his capacity to reason. It might be more charitable to simply point out that he graduated second-to-last in his class for nothing.
4
POPSThe "TR" Swear Words Remember the infamous "L" (liberal) word? Well, it might have been replaced by 2 new swear words: "TR" or "typical Republican." It's now a curse to be a "typical Republican" and John McCain is one in the minds of the public.
1
POPSNext? The giants are falling and yet John McCain tells us that the economy is fundamentally sound. If that doesn't sound like George Bush, what does?
1
POPSMcCain Created the BlackBerry? He doesn't know how to use the internet or e-mail, yet his campaign is now claiming that John McCain helped to create the BlackBerry. Is McCain running against Gore?

POPSSarah Palin on Censorship Sarah Palin has the frightening quality of many who believe they are in possession of revealed, absolute truth: viz. that evidence is irrelevant when it contradicts revealed "truth." New evidence need not be considered, and toleration of it is a fault and temptation that needs to be eradicated. That's why she need not read a book she wants to ban.
1
POPSMcCain/Palin: Just Repeat The Lie The Republican ticket obviously has no shame in its incessant repetition that Palin opposed the bridge to nowhere when in fact she was for it before it became too embarrassing to support it.
3
POPSThe Kiss of Death When Darth Vader endorses you, you have been cursed. For the first time, I feel sorry for Palin.
5
POPSJohn McCain's F-Bomb Episode Another example of John McCain's galloping pathological anger. The examples are legion and this is only one more example why he lacks the temperament to President of the USA.
6
POPSTroopergate: Palin Acting As Though She Has Something to Hide One of Gov. Sarah Palin's top aides refused to be interviewed under oath as part of the Alaskan legislature's investigation into "troopergate." he aide refused because the Palin administration believes that the legislature doesn't have the jurisdiction to look into the matter; rather the state personnel office does, which happily happens to be under Palin's jurisdiction. Nice coincidence, eh? Of course, this NEW position contradicts Palin's initial vow to cooperate fully with the legislature. Obstacles and delaying a swift resolution of the investigation will undoubtedly serve the interests of the McCain campaign.
1
POPSPalin was on McCain's Earmark Hit List Now this is embarrassing. As mayor and governor, Palin requested and supported congressional earmarks that McCain called excessive. How, then is she like him? Opportunistic comes to mind. LOL!
3
POPSPalin was a Last Minute Pick for VP The speech that the McCain campaign had prepared was "masculine" and now it has to be changed for Sarah Palin--someone that the campaign manager didn't think that McCain would choose. Case closed.

POPSRepublicans Play the Sexism Card "It's that damn liberal press" was the first excuse that the McCain campaign gave for the discoveries that the press and bloggers easily made after the campaign was caught failing to vet Sarah Palin. Now the new excuse targets the Obama campaign. Criticism of Palin makes one sexist. Specific criticisms don't have to be answered. They can all be dismissed by playing the sexism card. The translation: make all the criticisms go away because we can't answer them.
3
POPSMcCain Decides to Punish Larry King Over CNN Interview What a petty, angry little man John McCain is. Nothing happened in the interview that required retribution. He just didn't like anyone pulling off the mask on his awful vice presidential pick. The "punishment" is a shot over the bow to the press warning them to back off asking difficult questions. Sadly, the press probably will back off. Who wants to risk losing future interviews and exclusives? It's bad for business.
6
POPSFrom the Mouth of a Conservative: The Palin Pick "To the extent the experience, qualifications, and national-security arguments are taken off the table, Obama wins." No kidding. That's why the Palin pick appears superficial, a desperate grab to pick up disaffected Hillary voters, and to help us forget that John McCain has been in Washington DC a long time. And while the pick temporarily distracts the US from one of the greatest speeches delivered in history of the US (Obama's last night), within 2 weeks Palin will be seen as a liability, another deer caught in the headlights like Dan Quayle. The allegation that she had a trooper fired for divorcing her sister won't help, especially since the firer said he was pressured from her to fire the trooper. That no doubt credentials her with Rove and his Rovian minions within the GOP.
7
POPSSarah Palin Likes Obama's Energy Plan Poor John McCain. Not only does he select as a Vice Presidential someone who less foreign policy experience than Obama (making her one old codger's heartbeat away from the Presidency), but she recently praised aspects of Obama's energy plan. Besides, her glasses look weird on her, and I'm well versed on wearing weird glasses.
4
POPSBiden's Dig at John McCain Did John McCain ever deserve the dig Joe Biden made in his first speech in his role as the Vice Presidential nominee. America needs to know that John McCain has 7 houses. They need to understand why John McCain believes that someone who makes $4,999,999 is middle class. The only question now is what multimillionaire will McCain choose to round out the ticket for the interests of the wealthy. This nation is withering from the want of the correction that a smidgen of class (political) warfare can bring.

POPSA McCain Top Foreign Policy Advisor Took Money from Georgia While Russia's incursion into Georgia is deplorable, it should not be forgotten that Georgia's invasion of the independent South Ossetia is equally deplorable. This makes the USA's and McCain's willingness to wink at Georgia's actions inexplicable. It's less so now that we see that one of McCain's advisers had his palm greased by the Georgian government.

POPSJohn McCain the Plagiarizer? You're allowed to quote freely from Wikipedia as long as you make the proper attribuations, but it doesn't appear that John McCain did that. He should have done something like this: "A Wikipedia editor notices some similarities between Sen. John McCain's speech today on the crisis in Georgia and the Wikipedia article on the country Georgia. They appear similar enough that most people would consider parts of McCain's speech to be derived directly from Wikipedia.'
