Transplanted Organs "Remember" Their Donor
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  7-20-2007    10
Where do memories reside? This is so weird! It's actually pretty creepy, I reckon. A 29-year-old lesbian and a fast food junkie received a heart from a 19-year-old woman vegetarian who was "man crazy." The recipient reported after her operation that meat made her sick and she was no longer attracted to women. If fact, she became engaged to marry a man. The whole article is well worth the read.

America's Gods
haraya
by haraya  9-23-2006    3
The survey came up with other odd findings: most Americans believe in prophetic dreams, 4 in 10 believe in ancient advanced civilizations like Atlantis, 3/4 of Americans think their relatives will go to heaven, and only 2.2% identified with the term Evangelical even though 1 in 3 attend churches that theologians consider Evangelical. The real bottom line was that asking someone if he is Protestant, Catholic, or Jewish isn't likely to tell you much about what that person actually believes.

If you still believe drugs should be illegal,
swampfoxz
by swampfoxz  12-24-2007    3
If you still believe drugs should be illegal, answer this question... Why do you believe it is good policy to punish me--and 20 million adult Americans like me--because I choose to use marijuana in the privacy of my own home? Who benefits from this policy and how do they benefit? * Over 300,000 nonviolent people lose their freedom to prison/jail. * Thousands of murders, assaults, and robberies caused by drug crimes. * $20 billion/year in law enforcement costs. * $10 billion/year in lost tax revenue (similar to alcohol tax). * $5 billion/year in property losses due to drug-related crimes. * $50 billion/year and 500,000 jobs lost because of no hemp industry. Total cost = $85 billion/year = $500 per taxpayer every year!

Top 25 Censored news stories of 2007
Damo2012
by Damo2012  12-23-2007
Jimminy Jilickers Radioactive Man, the vice president is selling nukes to Iran and the media doesn't want to talk about it! And that's just the second most significant news story swept under the rug this year according to this Kronkite-endorsed .org. I wonder, what is going on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to, and how does it affect my daily life/sense of reality? If the VP (by way of Halliburton) is in bed with Iran then its not a stretch to think that the media could be in bed with the government. Its almost impossible to know where the real lines are drawn anymore. Democrat/Republican. Democracy/Dictatorship. Capitalist/Fundamentalist. Journalist/Editorialist. Sinner/Saint Its all the same now, the lines are totally blurred. It could be conjectured that much of what we are sold, told, and taught is designed to keep us just "in the know" enough to do our jobs , buy things, and have babies that will grow up, do jobs, and buy things. Long live the American

Traditional Holi Hindu Beverage Made with Cannabis
Damo2012
by Damo2012  12-25-2007    1
Some say cannabis is used to numb one out of reality. I say Western Society has a very poor understanding of enlightenment and how to achieve inner peace. Either way, there is a strong historical precedent towards cannabis as a pathway to enlightened thought, aka "spiritual ecstasy." sounds good to me.

Cocaine Vaccine in the Works
Damo2012
by Damo2012  1-2-2008
I'm dying to know what people think about this. For the seriously addicted I find this to be a promising option in the battle over addiction, but I fear the "Big Brother" dimension where they may try to force these vaccines on young children in an advancement of The Drug War. Thoughts?

You vs. The Chimp
Damo2012
by Damo2012  12-23-2007
I want to let this speak for itself. ...but I can't. Darwin would have a field day with this one! What does it all mean? Can chimps recognize the numbers so well because in the wild they have to have a 360 degree, 24/7 awareness of possible predators? Have we lost certain aspects of our physical prowess and/or mental focus because our reality has become safer and more predictable? Thoughts?
