Wish You Were Beer
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-18-2009    12
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, it is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver. I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day. Remember: "I" before "E," except in Budweiser. I drink only to make my friends seem interesting. Everybody should believe in something; I believe I'll have another drink. Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXdNnw99-Ic

When Your Insurer Says You're No Longer Covered
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  9-10-2009    7
"We do not rescind a policyholder's coverage because someone on the policy gets sick," said a spokeswoman for Anthem Blue Cross, a subsidiary of WellPoint. "We have put in place a thorough process with multiple steps to ensure that we are as fair and as accurate as we can be in making these difficult decisions." In a pending case, Blue Shield searched in vain for an inconsistency in the health records of the wife of a dairy farmer after she filed a claim for emergency gallbladder surgery, according to attorneys for the family. Turning to her husband's questionnaire, the company discovered he had not mentioned his high cholesterol and dropped them both. Yvette Thomassian of Glendale, Calif., lost her Blue Cross policy because she did not declare a deviated septum. She questioned why a common misalignment of the nostrils would disqualify anyone. They cancelled her healthcare over a crooked nose bone! Shocking this is tolerated, in a supposedly civilized nation.

Don't think it could ever happen? Well, no one ever thought a draft-dodging, pot-smoking, intern-groping perjurer could get elected president twice, be impeached, and then make a viable bid to become first "lady."

Letter to Nancy Pelosi, from Dennis Guthrie, Attorney
willhelm
by willhelm  8-30-2009
...I find it interesting that you and your husband are multi-millionaires with much of your fortune being made as a result of your “public service”. You have controlled legislation that has enhanced your husband’s investments both on and off shore. At the same time you redistributed the wealth of others. Our system of a free market economy is being destroyed by the likes of you, Harry Reid, and now our President. You ride around in a Gulfstream airplane at the tax payer’s expense while criticizing the presidents of companies who produced something for the economy. You add nothing to the economy of the United States; you only subtract therefrom. I would like to suggest that you return to the city of fruitcakes and nuts and eat your husband’s canned tuna and pineapple produced by illegal immigrants and by workers who have been excluded from the protection that 90% of the legal workers in the United States have. I await your defeat in the next election with glee.

Water Bears

Looking at water under a microscope can be fun, but sometimes it can turn your stomach. I don't care what anyone says, I like the chlorine in my drinking water. In the '40s and 50s my grandparents would take us out camping in the woods, and we would fill our canteens from the stream. Then I got my first microscope." NEVER again" I said! Ironically, they were the ones who gave me the instrument for xmas.

more: Ricketts gained his deep understanding of Aboriginal culture during frequent trips to Central Australia , where he lived with the Pitjantjatjara and Arrernte people from 1949 -1960. They soon adopted him as one of their own and willingly posed for the sculptures that would become their legacy. William Ricketts died in 1993 at the ripe old age of 94 but he will always be remembered as his figure, too, is dotted around the tranquil fern gully, forever connected to both the family and the land he so loved.
