Before noon on Monday September 21, 2009 a major crane, collapse caused severe injury to a worker. The First Wind Cohocton industrial wind project has been plagued by mechanical gearbox and blade problem from the inception. Clipper Windpower Liberty 2.5 MW turbines were designed for offshore installations. This is not the first instance of a serious accident that has caused permanent injuries to construction and repair technicians.

PRESS RELEASE: Before noon on Monday September 21, 2009 a major crane, collapse caused severe injury to a worker. The First Wind Cohocton industrial wind project has been plagued by mechanical gearbox and blade problem from the inception. Clipper Windpower Liberty 2.5 MW turbines were designed for offshore installations. This is not the first instance of a serious accident that has caused permanent injuries to construction and repair technicians. The operator of the crane was trapped within the crushed operating section and needed to be removed and rushed by ambulance for medical attention. Rescue personal indicated that his condition was serious but not life threatening. Cohocton Wind Watch has warned the Town of Cohocton for years about the risks of industrial wind factories. The danger zone is real and this incident needs to be taken serious. CWW urges the press to publish this breaking news.
