About me
Dawn Pugh MBACP

For more than 7 years I have worked professionally as a Private Practitioner and as a Primary Care Counsellor / Psychotherapist helping more than 4,000 people to live a more fulfilled and satisfying life.

I work with lots of different and variable issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, assertiveness, low self esteem, negative thinking, trauma, bereavement relationship difficulties and sexual abuse.

My solution focused therapy (which is short term and has a beginning middle and an end) is extremely effective for people who want to change.

I seek to help you identify and achieve your desired goals and dreams.
Make small but relevant changes which subsequently result in you feeling better and help you become more in control of your life now and in the future.
This can involve experimenting and challenging your beliefs, identifying new beliefs,
Exploring your thought processes. Creating new thought patterns.
Gaining insight into behavioural patterns etc….

Subsequently helping you to have more CHOICES.

5 Secrets to Getting Your “Way back into Love”
ClipDawn
by ClipDawn  7-8-2008
Intimatcy. (In to me i c) Lots of couples need to learn the “flavor of love”; giving “love comments” to each other can start the build up to creating fantastic intimacies. It’s not just about hearing the words “i wanna love you”. Intimacy and sex are very important within a healthy relationship and they are not all about the physical act of sex. It encompasses a lot more than that. Communication, holding hands, just being attentive and caring. Couples need to understand the differences between intimacy and sex and also understand each others needs and desires.

Men and bulimia: Why suffer in silence?
ClipDawn
by ClipDawn  5-19-2008
It's not just men that can suffer with eating disorders but I think it is much more 'taboo'. I hope John Prescott's revelation means more people with eating disorders will make contact in the future. Too often, the time when men get help is when they've gone too far and are being treated in hospital. They should know that it is possible to recover – and fully. But it's like breaking a leg – although it heals and you can walk again as if nothing ever happened, the bone doesn't heal in exactly the same way as it was before

"Finding The Deep River Within"
ClipDawn
by ClipDawn  5-15-2008
While everyone is busier these days, women especially suffer from "the disease of a-thousand-things-to-do." The cultural norm to be Superwoman puts a lot of pressure on women at home and on the job. But a new book called Finding The Deep River Within gives women the tools they need to put on the brakes. And author and psychotherapist Abby Seixas tells us how women can reclaim their lives from their "to-do-lists."
