Om, however, neglects to mention the most interesting aspect of this -- how this application helps move BlackBerry users away from Microsoft Outlook, until now the most convenient way to dump your calendar info onto the device. Google may softpedal it, but this is just one more sign that the fight between Microsoft and Google is only just starting.

POPSBlodget On Google's Threat to Microsoft Blogdet makes a great point here. Google's online apps are pretty crude, and yet they're a real threat to Microsoft's much more sophisticated desktop offerings. However, Microsoft is looking at more than just a disruption to its business from Google's low-end applications. It disrupts its own business every time it rolls out a new, more complex version of Word. I've got to admit, I can't really use the latest version of Word -- and rather than just gutting it out with the new program -- I just pop open my browser, cruise on over to Google Docs, and get to work.
