Valleywag Owen Thomas highlights the cozy relationship between Google and the incoming presidential administration. Maybe those Google dudes aren't, quite, as naive as we all thought.

Apple holds up release of Google voice app for iPhone
    Brian Caulfield
    by Brian Caulfield  11-16-2008
Philip Elmer-DeWitt at Apple 2.0 makes a great point. Google hustles to put a cool voice-recognition app on the phone -- bypassing its own Android software -- and Apple treats it "shabbily." Isn't this how Apple lost the PC wars?

    Anti-Trust Problems Brewing For Google?

Good news for Microsoft! Some think Apple is the new Microsoft and the DOJ seems to think Google may be the new Microsoft. All of which means it's safe for Microsoft to act a bit more like the old Microsoft again.

    Brian Caulfield
    by Brian Caulfield  8-25-2008
Insiders are telling Valleywag that Google could be about to stop offering free gourmet dinners to employees. Free meals, of course, are one of the lavish perks that make Google, Google. Valleywag has the dirt on why dinner may be off the menu at the search giant....

Google Loosens Microsoft's Grip On BlackBerry Users
    Brian Caulfield
    by Brian Caulfield  12-20-2007
Nice overview by Om Malik of Google's slick new Sync software, which neatly links the calendar on your Blackberry to Google's calendar application. Om, however, neglects to mention the most interesting aspect of this -- how this application helps move BlackBerry users away from Microsoft Outlook, until now the most convenient way to dump your calendar info onto the device. Google may softpedal it, but this is just one more sign that the fight between Microsoft and Google is only just starting.
