POPSConfidence Poll Well, it's not surprising. I am pleased that, even though it's lower than I would have expected, the military was at the top. Congress is, indeed, in the very pit.

POPSWhy Americans Are Shunning Hollywood’s Wares
aside to make movies that embody traditional values, it often scores big with the public. Consider 2004’s Spider-Man 2, a sequel far better than the original. The movie is a fable about duty and heroism. The movie resonated powerfully with the public, grossing a whopping $374 million domestically, and it took in another $400 million or so overseas. Factor in DVD sales, and you’re getting close to a billion-dollar movie. The Incredibles affectionately embraces the bourgeois family, flaws and all. The Parrs have their difficulties: teenager Violet is sullen, the kids fight, Mom and Dad bicker, Bob hates his drab insurance job, but for the Parr kids, the family bond is all-important. Pixar’s 2003 runaway winner Finding Nemo, the movie shows children “what adults are supposed to do,” writes author Frederica Mathewes-Green on National Review Online—“to be brave and self-sacrificing, to defend children even at risk to themselves, to give, even in the face of ingratitude.”

POPSCNN Poll: McCain can compete with Obama and Clinton.
While McCain wouldn't be my first choice as a conservative leaning Republican, I think he stands the greatest chance of winning in 2008. He is a maverick and like it or not the American people do want what they view as a change from Bush. They want someone they feel can work with the the other party not necessarily against. They want what they view as a reformer. And like it or not, McCain fits the bill. And in all honesty and bluntness, my only care right now is making sure a R is next to the name of the person in the Oval Office. At least this way I know the Republican base can have some sway over his decision making and I know the Iraqis won't be thrown out with the weekly trash. Republicans are in dire straits this election (as they were in 2006) we haven't had the turn out like the Democrats have, and nearly every poll is against us. It's not a time for principles it's a time for reality, McCain is probably going to receive my primary vote.

POPS Poll Says Chavez Loses Venezuela Referendum Lead A student movement has emerged to lead the anti-Chavez campaign, amplifying the condemnation from traditional opposition parties, the Roman Catholic church, rights groups and the defectors who say the reforms are authoritarian. Chavez, who refuses to scrap term limits for other officials, would have to leave office in 2013 without the law change. He urged Venezuelans to see vote as a referendum on him. This year, Chavez has hurt his standing by shutting an opposition TV station and failing to end some food shortages. Amanda Aguilar, 17, was in line at 5:30 a.m. waiting for a food store to open to buy her single, rationed carton of milk. The student from Chavez's home-state of Barinas hopes the referendum will force him to change or force him out of office. "All this lining up ends come December 2," she said.

POPSN.Y. governor abandons driver's licenses for illegal immigrants I heard Gov. Richardson make the same argument. It might have solved one issue but would have exacerbated all the other problems with our illegal immigration issues. There's a way to provide "proper documentation" and I think this Governor realizes, now, that this plan wasn't it. Keep working on it.
