Study: Open-Minded Blog Readers Much More Likely To Be Left-Wing

I ordinarily stay away from "liberals are x; conservatives are y" stories but what the hell, we've seen a lot of that lately on Clipmarks and this study looks well-designed.

Why Americans Are Shunning Hollywood’s Wares
    merrie
    by merrie  6-15-2008    8
aside to make movies that embody traditional values, it often scores big with the public. Consider 2004’s Spider-Man 2, a sequel far better than the original. The movie is a fable about duty and heroism. The movie resonated powerfully with the public, grossing a whopping $374 million domestically, and it took in another $400 million or so overseas. Factor in DVD sales, and you’re getting close to a billion-dollar movie. The Incredibles affectionately embraces the bourgeois family, flaws and all. The Parrs have their difficulties: teenager Violet is sullen, the kids fight, Mom and Dad bicker, Bob hates his drab insurance job, but for the Parr kids, the family bond is all-important. Pixar’s 2003 runaway winner Finding Nemo, the movie shows children “what adults are supposed to do,” writes author Frederica Mathewes-Green on National Review Online—“to be brave and self-sacrificing, to defend children even at risk to themselves, to give, even in the face of ingratitude.”

What nerve! What hypocrisy! What happened to 'talking' instead of bombing....'diplomacy' instead of cowboying? The man is damned if he does; damned if he doesn't. And what political party (or dominating portion of it) has blocked every effort to give the US energy independence? No refineries, no coal plants, no nuclear power, no off-shore drilling, no wind, etc.....just let's raise taxes on gasoline, heating oil, petroleum companies and everyone ride a bike.

We are entering the age of corporate totalitarianism. American companies are now global companies and American sovereignty is secondary to the wishes of the global capitalist. I'm as big a capitalist as anyone, but tyranny can come from any faction. The mainstream of America is being ripped by forces at both ends - Cultural Marxists on one end and corporate totalitarianism on the other.

Iraqi leader tells Bush: Get Gen Petraeus out

This sounds authentic. Petraeus must be making some progress against a group that is making Maliki nervous. This is much more complicated than us 'common' people know about. Hopefully Petraeus is on the right track. He has asked for 'time'. I pray he gets it; not the plug pulled.
