Revealing his bracelet for what it was, a political stunt. Whereas clearly John McCain feels a connection to the person he is supporting with his bracelet and the military as a whole, exemplified by the clear emotion you could hear in his voice when speaking on the subject.

Biden Sacrifices

Why do Obama and Biden hate giving money to charity? "But for people who have studied the impressive generosity of the American public, there is news in Biden’s returns. “I’m not going to say he’s a bad guy,” says Arthur Brooks. “My only point is that his values are not typical American values when it comes to charitable giving. Americans in general are very generous.”

Obama Tells O'Reilly Surge Succeeded
sillysam
by sillysam  9-4-2008    8
Before the interview was arranged, Obama and his staff held a closed door meeting with Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes to discuss his network's media coverage of the presidential election. According to Ailes, Obama wanted to know if he would get a "fair shake" from Fox. Ailes told the Washington Post he replied, "Senator, you're the one who boycotted us. We're not the ones who boycotted you. Nor did we retaliate for your boycott."

Obama's Interview With Military Times July 02, 2008
merrie
by merrie  7-10-2008    2
Somebody please ask junior Senator Barack Obama what he means when he says that contract worker support of our war effort should be just used for kitchen work and automobile repair. Does Barack Obama actually know what kind of invaluable service outfits like Blackwater perform in the support of our efforts in ferreting out zeolots who want to do harm to the Iraqi citizens we are trying to liberate? This is what Barack said to The Military Times, July 2, 2008: There is room for private contractors to work in the mess hall, providing basic supplies and doing some logistical work that might have been done in-house in the past. I am troubled by the use of private contractors when it comes to potential armed engagements… It is frightening to think Obama is one step away from being Commander in Chief. UPDATE: Astute Bloggers has more on Obama's Far Left attitude on Blackwater employees.

Hope + Change = 70% Tax Rate
merrie
by merrie  7-9-2008    4
Still, Barack assures us that John McCain's and George Bush's policy stances are indistinguishable, so let's so stipulate. Is that worse than the alternative? After all, what President in the modern era does Senator Obama's agenda most resemble? Huge expansion of the federal government? Check. Letting entitlement spending run wild? Check. "Windfall profit" taxes on oil companies? Strong desire to meet with dictators and state terrorism sponsors? Big doofy grin? Check, check, and check. The Tax Man Cometh Obama’s Plan Since the early 1980s — after Americans rejected Jimmy Carter and embraced Ronald Reagan and his tax cuts — the United States has benefited from relatively competitive tax rates. But if Sen. Barack Obama’s tax plan becomes law, the IRS will become one of the most punitive tax men in the world. http://blog.heritage.org/2008/07/01/morning-bell-the-tax-man-cometh/ (Obama caricature by Cox & Forkum)

Fred Thompson in Glimpses

Olbermann embarrasses the news business with his complete un-professionalism. "MessNBC" with their intentional audio inclusion of the unseen production crew, saw it acceptable to loudly razz an inspiring speech by Fred Thompson from So.Carolina early Saturday evening. K.O.along with Chris Matthews, come off like a pair of drop-outs sharing a 40 oz.'er and a joint - guys like Joe Scarborough have to be completely embarrassed having to appear with "The Most Disgusting News Fraud IN THE W-O-R-L-D! ! !" Matthews, having been relegated to sidekick to squinty-eyed Keith, asks the most absurd questions of each analyst and reporter that they don't even try to answer, wondering if he's actually even serious or not. There's nothing more disgusting than taking personalities like those two, making them feel self-important, and fueling that with alcohol. They are clearly drunk, resulting in a vulgar display of adolescent political analysis and childish disrespect for those that are the adult

Obama's Worn Out Economic Ideas
Rustee
by Rustee  1-17-2008    4
There is much current political interest in so-called "predatory lending" -- the charging of high interest rates for loans to poor people or to people with low credit ratings. Nothing will be easier politically than passing laws to limit interest rates or make it harder for lenders to recover their money -- and nothing will cause credit to dry up faster to low-income people, forcing some of them to have to turn to illegal loan sharks, who have their own methods of collecting. The underlying reality that politicians do not want to face is that here, too, prices convey a reality that is not subject to political control. That reality is that it is far riskier to lend to some people than to others. That is why the price of a loan -- the interest rate -- is far higher to some people than to others. Far from making extra profits on riskier loans, many lenders have lost millions of dollars on such loans and some have gone bankrupt.

Liberal Hatemongers

by n2sooners  1-17-2008    11
In 1998, Bill Clinton and Al Gore were hardly popular among conservatives. Still, in the 1998 ANES survey, Messrs. Clinton and Gore both received a perfectly-respectable average temperature of 45 from those who called themselves extremely conservative. While 28% of the far right gave Clinton a temperature of zero, Gore got a zero from just 10%. The bottom line is that there is simply no comparison between the current hatred the extreme left has for Messrs. Bush and Cheney, and the hostility the extreme right had for Messrs. Clinton and Gore in the late 1990s.

And what political party (or dominating portion of it) has blocked every effort to give the US energy independence? No refineries, no coal plants, no nuclear power, no off-shore drilling, no wind, etc.....just let's raise taxes on gasoline, heating oil, petroleum companies and everyone ride a bike.
