Tablet ignites debate on messiah and resurrection
    invictus
    by invictus  7-6-2008    4
"This should shake our basic view of Christianity," he said as he sat in his office of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem where he is a senior fellow in addition to being the Yehezkel Kaufman Professor of Biblical Studies at Hebrew University. "Resurrection after three days becomes a motif developed before Jesus, which runs contrary to nearly all scholarship. What happens in the New Testament was adopted by Jesus and his followers based on an earlier messiah story."

The aggregated "wisdom of the crowd," epitomized by Google and Wikipedia, is rife with opinion, misinformation, and lies because Web 2.0 creates an "environment where anyone can say anything," Keen argued. And that's "a bad thing for the cultural producers, the creative class,"

I think the time has come to open up these areas to tastefull, scholastic investigation, so that we can organize and preserve the relics that may be contained here in. Religion need not be at odds with the accumulation of humanistic knowledge, in fact religious significance is often a great complement to the field of archeology, as is archeology to important aspects of ancient religious history.

From criminal, to terrorist, to killer, to Prime Minister, to Nobel Peace Prize winner, yes it had to be a Zionist. Menachem Begin was commander of the Irgun terrorist gang then more infamous and feared than today's al Qaeda . Begin wrote in his memoirs, The Revolt: " History and experience taught us that if we are able to destroy the prestige of the British in Palestine, the regime will break. Since we found the enslaving government's weak point, we did not let go of it. " Words that could be about the USA instead of the Brits by al Qaeda and not the Prime Minister of Israel. Any Arab terrorists have a long long way to go in the terrorist league to catch the Zionists.

    Ancient cave found under church

Half a dozen sources (including Fox News) used this news story with the headline "First Church In The World". Of course, they also omitted archaeologist Thomas Parker's words: "It's quite possible that there was a cave with earlier occupation which was later converted to Christian use. But to make the jump that this was actually used by Christians fleeing Jerusalem in the 1st century A.D. seems like a stretch to me."

a dead sea under ONE god .... ;-) from the articles: The unusually warm, incredibly buoyant and mineral-rich waters have attracted visitors since ancient times, including King Herod the Great and the beautiful Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra. All of whom have luxuriated in the Dead Sea’s rich, black, stimulating mud and floated effortlessly on their backs Names of the Sea Known in the Bible as the "Salt Sea" or the "Sea of the Arabah," this inland body of water is appropriately named because its high mineral content allows nothing to live in its waters. Other post-biblical names for the Dead Sea include the "Sea of Sodom," the "Sea of Lot," the "Sea of Asphalt" and the "Stinking Sea." In the Crusader period, it was sometimes called the "Devil's Sea." All of these names reflect something of the nature of this lake.

Nablus is closed off by six checkpoints. Until 2005, one of them was open. "The checkpoints are supposedly for security purposes, but anyone who wants to perpetrate an attack can pay NIS 10 for a taxi and travel by bypass roads, or walk through the hills. The real purpose is to make life hard for the inhabitants. The civilian population suffers," says Said Abu Hijla, a lecturer at Al-Najah University in the city. In the bus I get acquainted with my two neighbours: Andrew Feinstein, a son of Holocaust survivors who is married to a Muslim woman from Bangladesh and served six years as an MP for the ANC ; and Nathan Gefen, who has a male Muslim partner and was a member of the right-wing Betar movement in his youth. Gefen is active on the Committee against AIDS in his AIDS-ravaged country.

"The paving of major transportation arteries, and recently also a rail line, created a network to serve a unified city. Even public institutions and government offices were set up in strategic locations in the eastern part of the city in order to prevent a possible division. Alongside this, the acquisition of lands and properties from Arabs, by Jewish individuals and associations, continues constantly with the aim of establishing additional facts on the ground." the report's authors mapped the neighborhoods and villages in East Jerusalem from north to south and assessed the chances of separating them. The mapping indicates that it is possible, with difficulties, to cut off from Jerusalem neighborhoods where only a third of the 240,000 Arab residents currently reside. From an economic and employment perspective, the report stipulates that separating the "neighborhoods on the edge," adjacent to the PA areas, will have a limited affect on Jerusalem's economy. However, the loss of th

'President Bush assured us last week that things are under control. “The fundamentals of our economy are strong,” Bush told a press conference August 9, the day after the three French banks shut their mortgage funds, sending the New York stock market tumbling in response. “I am told there is enough liquidity in the system to enable markets to correct,” the president added. That is, Bush believes there’s enough cash to cover the current failures. The market is saying there isn’t.' This input from Bush frightens me more than anything with his record for LIES and DECEPTION. Inevitably this must be a lie. Now is it a deliberate lie or will it turn out to be a lie in time, one that he isn't yet certain is a lie. GOD HELP US ALL.

Increased Hostility to Christians from Zionists
    righthand
    by righthand  12-30-2007    1
"Palestinian Christian leaders have sensed increased hostility toward their ministries and institutions on the part of Israeli authorities and Jewish settlers. During Holy Week 1990, militant settlers took over St. John’s Orthodox Hospice, adjacent to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, with the support and protection of Israeli police. The Israeli government initially denies its involvement until Israeli journalist reported that the Housing Ministry, directed by David Levy (now the foreign minister) had secretly channeled $1.9 million from government funds to help underwrite the venture. This fact has now been confirmed, as has the fact that an additional $2.2 million was raised, and was laundered through a Panamanian bank. Such government-sanctioned illegalities directed against the Christian community leave a bitter taste for Palestinian Christians. Meanwhile, the settlers remain in the building, whey they are reconstructing, while the case enters a second year of legal delays."
