POPSHeartbreaking Nature Story We know that whales are intelligent. Whether they are self aware is another matter. Yet, there is something very poignant about this story.

POPSChurch of Hate Pays Thru the Nose Though money cannot comfort the father who lost his son hopefully it will have an effect on this despicable "church". I actually cheered when I heard the outcome of this suit on the news.

POPSMan Made Life Whoa. The implications from this will be enormous. If this project succeeds expect a concerted campaign of denial and attack from the religious conservatives.

POPSHistory Your Mama Didn't Tell You From the article: "Columbus and his men also used the Taino as sex slaves: it was a common reward for Columbus’ men for him to present them with local women to rape. As he began exporting Taino as slaves to other parts of the world, the sex-slave trade became an important part of the business, as Columbus wrote to a friend in 1500: “A hundred castellanoes (a Spanish coin) are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and it is very general and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls; those from nine to ten (years old) are now in demand.” It seems Chris was a naughty, naughty boy.

POPSMy God Can Beat Up Your God For CM regulars who have accused me on beating up on Christians I offer this clip about Hindu militants and their strife with Christians in India. Ain't religion fun...

POPSIt's Only a Theory!!!!! Link to the original if you think any of the clip is true. And please link to the original if you feel compelled to post creationist drivel in the comments. This is a public service clip so you don't have to make a fool of yourself and post a comment telling the world how you believe Jesus told you evolution was ungodly.

POPSChristian Double Standard True to form, Christians seem to be all in favor of religious non-discrimination as long as it's non-discrimination towards Christians only.

POPSCreationism, the New Virus of Education Look for new lies from Creationism/ID as it adapts to criticism and unveiling of its distortions and frauds. Make no mistake, these people at the Discovery Institute are ruthless in their quest to insinuate religion into the curriculum. They will use any method to accomplish this goal. These are not simply people gathered together to "give another perspective". They are organized to force their agenda to teach religious myths to our children. The last sentence of the clip is chilling considering High Priest Bush has used the same language. No one considers Bush to be versed in science, given his record. The dangerous part is that he does hold the power to cause real harm to education and that is a problem that will last long past his failed administration.

POPSChristian Nation??? This canard is regularly heard when talking with Fundamentalists. They seem to be impervious to facts. It's as though they view history in the same way they view the bible. They pick and choose what they need to bolster their ungrounded speculations.

POPSBut Which God? Sad. Another Christian Nationalist spews superstition. Seems Texas has an overabundance of this sort of thing. What's with these people?
16
POPSTheists Will Deny This! Theists will dust off the oft repeated mantra that without eternal punishment in hell people just can't behave. The law must come from God. Totally baseless and false but they'll drag it out anyway.

POPSStupid Christians Navigate to the website and watch the video if you've got the stomach for it. I found it to be revolting. If this isn't child abuse, I don't know what is. How could rational people be so ignorant? Religion is how!

POPSLet's Start Using Our Brains I've not vetted this account but if true it is a particularly stunning example of gullible saps causing real damage by their irresponsible actions.
14
POPSQuestion Faith It's time for us to grow up as a culture and trash the inhibition of questioning religion. Why should this area of thought get a free pass? The only answer I can come up with is that it would not survive public doubt and criticism. As we've seen in the Bush administration, religious dogma does have consequences that can negatively affect millions of people. To allow these areas to go unquestioned is ridiculous.

POPSAtheism Explained This is a lucid explanation of what an atheist is and what an atheist is not. It's a good summation and answers some of the basic questions that are often brought up in regards to atheism. Link to the original (it's not too long) for a good introduction.

POPSChild Abuse - Dying for Religion The boy's aunt, a Jehovah's Witness, needs to be changed with murder. She killed him with her religious myths as certainly as if she had stabbed him with a knife. Religion kills.

POPSCultural Diversity? Or Just Wrong? This is sure to stir up controversy. Knowing what we know today, should be stand quiet and ignore the lives scared by this archaic practice because of cultural diversity? I fervently believe we need to speak out and show our revulsion over such primitive and harmful ideas. We know that practices such as this are harmful to women but hesitate to bring them to the forefront for fear of offending certain segments of the population. I couldn't disagree more. These "traditions" need to be exposed to the light of modern thought and people need to express their outrage for such devastating practices.

POPSAmerica is Hungry for Change The number of Democrats turning out is certainly impressive. And while the Dems opted for change it seems the Republicans are satisfied with the status quo. Keep appealing to that neo-con base during elections and generally ignore them the rest of the year. It seems everyone except the neo-cons are laughing at the naked emperor.

POPSCline Article on Christian Indoctrination This clip points to an excellent article by Austin Cline that I encourage all to read in its entirety. It's relatively short so go ahead, give it a read. Maybe it will get some to think for themselves.
