POPSMichele Bachmann:Is Swine Flu A Coincidence? ( A Democrat Is President) http://www.thestar.com/living/article/625225 "Human outbreaks of swine flu – an illness caused by types of viruses that are typically endemic to pigs (hence the name) – can occur, but are typically rare. The last time there was major public concern over swine flu in the United States was in 1976, when a soldier at Fort Dix died and millions of Americans were immunized as a precaution." http://www.philly.com/philly/news/homepage/20090428_U_S___concerned__as_swine_flu_rages.html Check the source for some more Bachmann claims that are proved false...again.

POPSHate-Mongering Conservative Commentators Use Swine Flu To Promote Racism!
"What happens if there's a rash of deaths in Mexico... and if you're a family in Mexico and people are dying and Americans are not, why wouldn't you flood this border?" announces Glenn Beck. These loud mouths are also trying to convince their audiences that Islamic terrorists have somehow been able to do what has eluded scientists elsewhere in the world — concoct a deadly new flu virus — and then introduce it into the Mexican population. "What better way to sneak a virus into this country than to give it to Mexicans....then spread a rumor there there are construction jobs here, and there they come," blathers Boortz. the first American cases of swine flu have turned up in New York City students who recently returned from a trip to Cancun, Mexico — they brought it with them. They're the human mules! American tourists returning from Mexico are at this point virtually all the other culprits spreading the new flu! The fact that this new flu is just an excuse to spread racism becom

POPSLimabaugh To Specter:Take McCain & His Daughter With You "This is a sad day for the GOP," Michael Smerconish, a longtime conservative radio host in Philadelphia, told the Huffington Post. "He is what the party needed to be. They need to cultivate more Specters instead of deriding him as a RINO .... The fact that Michael Steele is deriding him for his left wing record is just the same type of bullshit of playing to the base." Pointing to a Washington Post poll that showed only 21 percent of voters identify themselves as Republicans, Smerconish concluded: "I think the number is down to 20 percent." Meanwhile Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine, one of the few remaining moderate Republicans in the Senate, told the Huffington Post Tuesday that Specter's abandonment of the GOP is "devastating," both "personally and I think for the party."

POPSRush Limbaugh Lies: McCain Says He Provided Intell While Being Torture (Not True)
Elsewhere in his memoir, McCain recalled providing false information to his captors on multiple occasions in order to “suspend the abuse.” Further, McCain explained in a 2005 Newsweek column that he believed torture would yield little actionable intelligence. “In my experience, abuse of prisoners often produces bad intelligence because under torture a person will say anything he thinks his captors want to hear — whether it is true or false — if he believes it will relieve his suffering,” McCain wrote. McCain was right. As the Washington Post reported last month, the torture of Abu Zubaida — who was once thought to be a high-level AQI operative — did not foil “a single significant plot” and provided the CIA with a number of “false leads.” “We spent millions of dollars chasing false alarms,” one former intelligence official told the Post. Further, “most of the useful information from Abu Zubaida — chiefly names of al-Qaeda members and associates — was obtained before waterboarding was

POPSJoe Scarborough Claims Obama Is Targeting Veterans
What if Dick Cheney decided that he was going to target liberals? … Can you imagine what certain newspapers and cable news shows would do if George Bush and Dick Cheney decided to target democratic loyalists, and say that they may be a terror threat? Of course, DHS already wrote a report on “left-wing extremists,” completed earlier this year. “This is the job of DHS, to assess what is happening in this country, with regard to homegrown terrorism, and determine whether it’s an actual threat or not, and that’s what these assessments do. This is nothing unusual,” a DHS official told Fox News. More importantly, the report did not target “conservatives” or “Republican loyalists.” Indeed, it’s odd that conservatives like Scarborough would willingly group themselves and Republicans in with “rightwing extremist activity, specifically the white supremacist and militia movements” — the actual focus of the DHS report. Scarborough is not alone in this lumping, however; yesterday, Michell

POPSMichael Steele's Attack On President Obama The RNC letter noted that Mr. Obama while in Europe had said the United States has displayed "arrogance" at times in its foreign policy. But Mr. Steele said it was that it was the former senator from Illinois who was "arrogant". Michael Steele defines, "arrogance".

POPSAl Franken Winner Of Senate Race! The problem that former Senator Coleman has is he lost fair and square," Elias said. "He lost because more people voted for Al Franken than voted for Norm Coleman. No amount of lawyering or sophisticated legal arguments is going to change that." Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, a Democrat, said he would welcome an appeal, saying he thinks the state's highest court could provide closure. The appeal must come within 10 days after the final order from the three-judge panel that presided over the seven-week trial.

POPSMichael Steele, Head Of RNC Laughs Off The Recession FTA: The DNC released a statement today, to express dismay at Steele's glibness over the state of the economy. "This callous statement just proves how out of touch the Republican party is. Michael Steele may be worried about his ability to get a reservation at the latest DC restaurant, but there are too many Americans worried about just putting food on their kitchen tables. While the Republican party may think the pain being experienced by families - pain caused by the economic policies they championed - is a laughing matter, what isn't a joke is that they still continue to offer nothing other than those same failed policies," said DNC National Press Secretary Hari Sevugan. But here's the thing that tells me that Steele is operating a few bricks short of a full load. How does it help Steele's party to try to insinuate that the economy is doing better?

POPSSarah Palin Vs Levi Johnston "Bristol's focus will remain on raising Tripp, completing her education, and advocating abstinence," the statement continues. "It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well being of the child." The statement ends, saying, "Bristol realizes now that she made a mistake in her relationship and is the one taking responsibility for their actions." It's pretty sickening to use a child for political gain when their baby was used on the national stage and it appears Levi got the old shotgun treatment to attend the RNC Convention."

POPSGOP Lawmakers Won't Back Sen Leahy's Calls To Investigate Bush Admin Crimes Leahy, a Vermont Democrat and former prosecutor, told students at Georgetown Law School that although President Barack Obama was unsupportive of the idea of “looking backwards” “many Americans feel we need to get to the bottom of what went wrong.” “We need to be able to read the page before we turn it,” he said. “I continue to talk about this prospect with others in Congress, and with outside groups and experts,” Leahy said. “I continue to call on Republicans to recognize that this is not about partisan politics. It is about being honest with ourselves as a country. We need to move forward together. But we cannot ignore the failures of government forever. We do so at our peril.”

POPSSteele Claims He's Done With President Obama!
Con't: And the latest poll is telling us that Murphy (D) now has a 4-point lead in that race. With Steele's job possibly hinging on the outcome, I believe the GOP would like Steele's attention off of the President at least until after the special election. Democrat Scott Murphy has taken a 4 percentage point lead over Republican Jim Tedisco in the race for the 20th Congressional District, according to the latest Siena Research Institute poll. That's outside the 3.2 percent margin of error. However, by a 10-point margin, more voters think Tedisco, an Assemblyman, will end up beating Murphy in the special election, the poll said. Murphy, a venture capitalist, erased a 4 percentage point deficit in just two weeks. Tedisco’s campaign is seen as being more negative than Murphy’s by a 44-25 percent margin, according to the Siena Research Institute survey. The NRCC is so frightened by the prospect of losing in a Republican district that they've pulled out the 9/11 --

POPSHouse Passes Bill Taxing 90% Of AIG Bonuses With Many Republican Votes Here's the Roll Call vote results and you can see how many Republicans voted with the AIG's of the world. And how can we forget that virtually every single Republican-- including, of course, those currently screaming the loudest, have been harsh critics of every effort to limit executive compensation for companies taking TARP money

POPSDidn't Republicans JUST Say We Shouldn't Ban Bonuses...2 Weeks Ago? And a few more FTA: "I really don't want the government to take over these businesses and start telling them everything about what they can do." Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told ABC News in February, when asked about Obama's proposed limits on executive compensation. Senator Jim DeMint, who attacked the original bailout bill as "pure socialism," characterized executive pay caps as a dangerous government intervention.

POPSGlenn Beck & Bill O'Reilly Save $400,000 Per Year On Bush Tax System Beck and O’Reilly are each paid over $10 million every year — more than 99.9 percent of Americans. This is a conservative estimate as it only includes their income from Beck’s $10 million annual contract with Premiere Radio Network and Bill O’Reilly’s contract with Fox News. By opposing Obama’s budget and protecting their Bush tax giveaway, Beck and O’Reilly are denying tax cuts for 95 percent of working American families. Will Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck really deny these cuts and prevent much needed investments in education, health care and energy, all to keep their $400,000 a year?

POPSSen John Cornyn Sucks Up To Rush Limbaugh FTA: Cornyn's play is essentially trying to shift the blame from his own party's failures that led this country headlong into a crater. Talk about trying to shift the focus. Why can't Big John just admit the truth and say that Rush is head of the Limbaugh National Committee. Michael Steele proved that point when he groveled at the feet of Rush. From this we may gather that Cornyn is among those that hopes President Obama will fail too. And Cornyn wonders why America is solidly behind President Obama.

POPSEmanuel: Limbaugh Is The Voice Of The GOP FTA: Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) apologized Wednesday to “my fellow conservatives” for comments critical of talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh – saying he sees “eye-to-eye” with Limbaugh and that his remarks defending House Republican leadership came across more harshly than intended. --- “I regret and apologize for the fact that my comments have offended and upset my fellow conservatives—that was not my intent,” Gingrey said in a statement. “I am also sorry to see that my comments in defense of our Republican Leadership read much harsher than they actually were intended, but I recognize it is my responsibility to clarify my own comments.” I think the Republican members of Congress got the message loud and clear. Steele and Kyl and Cornyn and McConnell and Boehner will take Limbaugh's orders dutifully, even if they try to distance themselves away from them publicly. For the most part they just recite his talking points anyway.

POPSRep. Nick Thompson v. Rush Limbaugh These people, Nick Thompson and his wife, out of the goodness of their hearts, allowed this stranger to live in an unused home while she tries to get on her feet. Kudos to them both. Rush Limbaugh, giant ass that he is, has the nerve to rant against the Thompsons’ as an embarrassment to Americans. For this comment and many, many others, Rush Limbaugh is an embarrassment to humanity. He views this type of charity only through the eyes of “what is in it for me”. And then his ‘ditto-head flock of sheep’ start bashing Thompson as a disgrace to Republican principles of self-responsibility. Self responsibility through helping your neighbor in time of need is the greatest show of respect we can offer each other. This is the kind of respectability that far too many Americans have forgotten. As Mr. Thompson said "Whether Republican or Democrat, the more people do small things like just helping your neighbor the better off we’d be."
