Catholicism, interesting ideas. I wonder what they would have done with Jesus' body parts if they could've found him. Also interesting, that Romans were told to convert to Catholicism or be beheaded. This seems to have gone full circle.

And you still believe its not a racket? Doesn't look like feeding the poor and walking in the footsteps of Jesus to me. But keep donating, they all have to take a dump somewhere. It's called fleecing the flock. It's a time honored tradition. Glad you could be on board. Thanks again for your donation. God will pay you back a 1000-fold ... after you're dead. (What a great punch line! Only a few people actually get it.)

Why do Christians Insist that Hitler was an Atheist?
    AcesLucky
    by AcesLucky  6-23-2009    73
     4. Regarding atheism, Hitler specifically opposed it in a 1933 speech in Berlin: “We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out.” prussian 5. By order of the Führer (Hitler), Nazi Germany’s soldiers (Wehrmacht) wore belt buckles inscribed “Gott mit uns” (”God is with us”). An atheist would never demand this. With just these five facts out of many others, why would they still insist that Adolf Hitler was an atheist? Only total ignorance would support such misguided statements

""In religion, Mr. Lincoln was about of the same opinion as Bob Ingersoll, and there is no account of his ever having changed. He went to church a few times with his family while he was President, but so far as I have been able to find out, he remained an unbeliever. Mr. Lincoln in his younger days wrote a book, in which he endeavored to prove the fallacy of the plan of salvation and the divinity of Christ."

New Testament - on Women's rights

    by AcesLucky  1-29-2008    14
So many translations; so many interpretations; but sometimes they all say essentially the same thing... women are second class citizens... thus saith the Lord. Is the word of god "subject to" the culture of the times? Or do we change the interpretation of god's word to fit our sensibilities at the time? Perhaps we create god's word as we go. Certainly our interpretation does.

Albert Einstein Quotes on a Personal God
    AcesLucky
    by AcesLucky  1-10-2008
Did Albert Einstein believe in God? Many religious theists cite Einstein as an example of a smart scientist who was also a religious theist like them. This supposedly rebuts the idea that science conflicts with religion or that science is atheistic. However, Albert Einstein consistently and unambiguously denied believing in personal gods who answered prayers or involved themselves in human affairs - exactly the sort of god common to religious theists claiming that Einstein was one of them.

    The Church must be one
    Efrain Alvarado
    by Efrain Alvarado  12-17-2007    120
St. Cyprian (c. 250AD) - "God is one and Christ in one, and one is His Church, and the faith is one, and His people welded together by the glue of concord into a solid unity of body. Unity cannot be rent asunder, nor can the one body of the Church, through the division of its structure, be divided into separate pieces." (On the Unity of the Church, 23) Tertullian (c. 197AD) - "We are a society with a single religious feeling, a single unity of discipline, a single bond of hope," (Apology 39, 1) St. Hilary (c. 4th century) - "In the Scriptures our people are shown to be made one, so that just as many grains collected into one and ground and mingled together, make one loaf, so in Christ, who is the heavenly bread, we know there is one holy, in which our whole company is joined and united" (Treatise 62, 13)
