POPSIrritating phrases Promotion for some "Use of English" Christmas book... Why is ATEOTD still around when it's been "most irrtiating" for years? Someone must find it useful. I am guilty of three, I think, being fond of "absolutely", "nightmare" and "rocket science". "elephant in the room" should be there. And I think "jumping the shark" could do with a rest as well.

It looks like the future really is going to be one or two megastars and a whole lot of one hit youtube amateurs.

POPSAnother ugly beating in Bratislava There has been another attack in Bratislava that probably has racist motives. Approximately 20 men attacked 3 dark-skinned students on Friday night. Two of them ended up lying unconscious on the tram lines. The police however claim that the attack was not racially motivated. They took the same line in the past with cases that later turned out to be motivated by racial hatred. The whole incident took place just 200 m from Bratislava police HQ. One of the three students was allegedly set upon by skinheads after coming out of a night club and heading for the tram stop.
