POPSsome legal drugs are less safe than illegal drugs This is one such posting about recent studies that highlight the hypocrisy of our various world governments & the attitude of people regarding drugs. If we tolerate smoking & drinking then individuals should have the right to get high or drop a tab or experience euphoria from EX in the same manner. According to this study, it is not only less harmful to the individual, but also has fewer ill social effects. The real issue is that too many people in this world are hypocrites that subscribe to the belief in circular logic. Drugs are illegal, so they are bad. Because drugs are bad, they ought to be illegal. People need to mind their own god damn business and not worry about what others do tjust to ease their own conscience and make themselves feel morally superior. Specifically, lets let doctors prescribe cannabis to cancer & aids patients to help ease the pain, side effects of treatment & to give them an appetite. *sigh* =(

POPSBroiled Pizza Coincidentally, I recently saw a similar concept in a cook book I was paging through. My interest was piqued because Eric and I have recently fell in love with the pizza served at "Punch Neapolitan Pizza" here in the Twin Cities. They opened up a Restaurant near us in Minneapolis, and ever since we have been converts. It's the best pizza in town! Punch's claim to fame is that they can cook a pizza in 90 seconds. They use a wood fire in a beehive shaped clay oven that reaches 800 degrees. Broiling the pizza would produce a similar texture at home. However, the cookbook I was looking at had you do it outside on a grill that had been preheated, which along with wood chips, gives it that smoky flavor...I think that would be even closer to what we experience at Punch. Regardless, check out thepauperdchef.com great site for foodies.

POPSFogo De Chao Churrasacaria a Fogo De Chao is opening up in Minneapolis (in the old Copeland's Space in City Center)....my thought is that it could be either very good or a train wreck?!? Whenever "all you can eat" is involved you attract a certain element that can quickly turn a nice place into a trough for slopping pigs....however...If it is priced to provide appreciable quality rather than quality, it becomes more about sampling variety than seeing how much you can stuff in your gut to get the most bang for your buck. I love buffet concepts because it does allow you to sample SMALL portions to learn what you like, to try new things and simply to have what looks good & fits your mood. Has anyone been to one of these? Good, bad, mediocre? And What's the general price range for lunch...or dinner? Cocktails or just wine? I am excited to have something new that isn't an olive garden!

POPSmyDEATHspace.com This is an inevitable evolution of the social networking phenomenon started by sites like faceparty & myspace. As we move from town halls & churches, to chat rooms and blogging sites, our friends & neighbors are more and more becoming virtual. Eventually those people die. Just as we have funerals & wakes, the online communities have a need for a similar vehicle for closure.

POPSMolecular Gastronomy: Inside the Alinea Food Lab Molecular Gastronomy is the art of cooking with science...Grant Achatz partner & executive chef of alinea in Chicago is part of a new breed of young chefs who are turning to technology to redefine cooking.
