merrie says: Virgil Griffith created the Wikipedia Scanner to catch companies and organizations who were editing Wikipedia articles to their own benefit. Stories frequently surface about an organization or individual altering a Wikipedia entry, either maliciously or for the sake of a practical joke. But limiting people's ability to easily edit Wikipedia would infringe on one of its most celebrated features and what's arguably the key to its success. I won't use it! Well a couple times to get links to other sites but I think it is largely co-opted by lefties and I will NEVER take it seriously.(Neither would I if it was overweighted by righties ~ makes no difference.) I can't begin to see this fascination with it. That it is seen as something glorious by the left tells me a lot about their way of thinking. I've never had any confidence in wikipedia. I use either Answers.com or Info.com. wikiHow is a useful site, otherwise I google almost everything else. : - ) |
