Newfman, I would counter that there is a little bit of truth to both of those statements. Speaking of oil interests, if you guys haven't heard of the documentary "Why We Fight", you might want to look into it. It looks at the military-industrial-congressional complex. How members of each faction interact with each other, and the effects it has. Basically, it concludes that there are not enough limitations on how members of one area can interact with others. A good example is a congressman going to work for a defense contracting company, or vice-versa. They still have old friends in the other camp, and are pressured to benefit both sides. It's not ... |
