Yes. I think superstition is a lower emotional method of trying to make heads or tails of the world around us.

Our brains try to seek out patterns; it's how we learn.

And where there is none, we instinctively try to make one in our imaginations to fill the dissonance. We do it visually too; in our memories, in our hearing, probably in every cognitive function.

The problem is when people in power or authority can't tell them from reality. Then we all suffer.
