thisnamecantbetaken says: Love is a choice we can all afford. I once read that poverty was really something that referred to the spirit. You can be financially poor but rich in spirit. A poor soul was someone who could not love or give; a poor soul was not someone who had little money. You are as poor as you feel and that has nothing to do with what your checking account may say. A veritable truism! Nice clip tncbt! An old friend back in the early 70's hippie days once said, " Enough is Plenty" It just seems that knowing what is "enough" has always been integral to the art of living and somehow, being artful isn't easy. Vigilance and self remembering help. Less is so often more. Today I earn half what I was earning 5 years ago and I am at least twice as happy (How do you measure happiness?) And I have more time to enjoy the simple pleasures of friends, family and my own company. I no longer have a car but I walk, cycle and take public transport. I live within walking distance of a river, a woods and a lovely park. Central London and its wonderful free museums are only 20 minutes away on the train (we're well served by the rail network here in Watford). I am lucky to have a job I love and that brings me joy and satisfaction. Life is good. Ambition and the drive to "get on" almost killed me (literally). We risk missing the passing of our lives... |
